The Dark Knight Rises (Post-release)

I'm really surprised by all the mixed reactions to this film - I understand no movie can please everyone, but I was hoping for more support for it.

It doesn't have anything to do with "support", my friend. Some of us just didn't like it, simple as that. Support is buying movie tickets, and we all did that already. The rest is opinion.

I loved it, thought it was a perfect way to end the trilogy. I also loved Bane, the voice didnt bother me and it was pretty close to what I expected it to sound from the comics.

My only minor complaint, was how they handled vasts periods of time. It goes from end of summer to winter, but in the movie it seems it happens over night with people picking right up where the scene cut from last

I didn't. :) Thank you, Citrix. :)

I will definitely be seeing it again to try to catch things I missed. Were there any Easter eggs that anyone caught?

I have been avoiding this thread like the plague. I will just say this and leave.

I liked it a lot. I saw some flaws but overall, this film was the best representation of the themes of Batman yet.

Nolan might be clear that he's not making any more BATMAN films, but there's other characters where the focus could lead a different path and continue it on, but he probably really meant it... Maybe he won't do another DC Batman universe film... Great trilogy overall. Bane was no joke! The fight scenes were intense!

Ya those fights scenes gave me anxiety watching. Especially towards the end when Bane was going ballistic!

Yeah I want to watch again and look for Easter eggs too. As Catwoman was bring walked through Blackgate prison I was looking at the prisoners in the background in case there were any villain cameos but I didn't recognise any. I guess it doesn't make canonical sense really in the nolanverse since Batmans been gone for 8 years there wouldn't be any new members of the rogues gallery in prison.

Saw it, liked it, didn't think it topped TDK, but was a good movie.

Some of the things I was scratching my head about was:
Ras, in the first one, as well as all his warriors had every intention to survive and escape the destruction of Gotham, so the Legue of Shadows could remain and continue to function as the guardians of justice... but his daughter Talia and her lover Bane stayed in the city intending to get blown up when the bomb went off. It just doesn't make sense.

And the freed prisoners: not one of them questioned or refused following Bane almost to the point of being blindly loyal. At least in TDK the criminals were at each others' throats all the time struggling to be the top dog.

And I sorta got the idea that it was meant for the people of Gotham to fear, but also hunt each other in the search for the person with the detonator. In the first movie the purpose was to have the population be the cause of their own destruction. Why else the whole notion of martial law and telling about the mystery person having the detonator other than to create chaos, paranoia and uncivilized actions. Was it just to numb them into inaction regarding what Bane and co. did to the rich?

And the street fight. It was a little silly that Batman and Bane could just have their little fight without anyone interfering. I don't care about how afraid or loyal all those criminals were to Bane... they would have attacked Batman the first chance they got. And the cops... they stayed well away from Bane.

Actually... I would have preferred not to have seen Wayne at the end... just have Alfred nod and leave it at that. No point in seeing who he nodded at - the whole point of the story Alfred told Wayne earlier set that up well enough to just leave it slightly ambiguous, but still pretty conclusive that it was likely Wayne he nodded at.

These are minor ponderings... nothing that really takes away what I feel about the movie.

We saw it today at an out of town theater mega screen...bought my tix before the tragedy.

While there was this terrible cloud of hurt looming over my head, I didn't want my kids to see me bothered, so we haven't discussed the incident much.

The theater was somber and nowhere near capacity.
During the pre show stuff, it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

The show...for me..was best of the three.
Will others agree, I doubt it...TDK is a pretty hard show to beat.

But the show got my attention, kept me on the edge of my chair.
Bane was an incredible villain, and the football stadium part just reaked of domestic terrorism. Sure, my over active imagination and anxiety compounded with the tragic incident in CO....really got to me...scared me a bit that we really don't know what can happen five minutes from now...

Michael Caine...that man is awesome.

Maybe it's just my age, but I had to fight tears a couple times..

The DarkKnight rose.
He truly is the symbol needed.

I agree Too much Garlic at the ending I kinda figured he would nod and that was it in true Nolan fashion

For everyone thinking it might continue...was it just me or did they never resolve the whole 'Wayne lost all his money thing' so any Batman/Nightwing in the future has a SERIOUS budget limitation going for them...it probably costs quite a bit to keep the cave fully stocked
