The Dark Knight Rises (Post-release)

I loved Michael Caine. His deliveries were truly awesome, and he made me tear up almost everytime he was on screen. I didn't like how his character just up and left though. Though he and Bruce had their falling out, I had expected Alfred to reappear much sooner to lend his support. I was a bit disappointed with that.

Also, I don't know if anyone else had noticed this, but there was a line that was in one of the trailers that was noticeably missing from the movie:

"You are as precious to me as you were to your own mother and father. I swore to them that I would protect you.....and I haven't."

A great movie overall.

Yeah, I noticed that too. A lot of movies seem to be doing that now, including lines in the trailers which they cut from the movie. The entire voiceover from Ra's from the first teaser trailer where he talks about becoming a legend, isn't in the film either. I'm guessing that it would have fitted in with his line in the film 'there are many forms of immortality'.

Wasn't that from Batman Begins?

I'm Glad Gordon stuck to his guns when he said "If you think we are going out on that ice, you got another thing coming" or something along those lines...next scene...walking on the ice

I'm just ticked that after Selina...
...kissed Batman, Bale didn't turn to the camera and do this...

:rolleyes

I do think they missed a golden opportunity for a nice Batman quip when she blew Bane away, but at that point it might have pulled everyone out of the film.

Did I missed out on the talk on what character will blake is going to be? Robin "wink", Nightwing, or Batman.

To be honest, I've really been surprised that this was ever in any debate. Throughout the series, the focus has been on the Batman being a symbol. One that could live on after the man. Robin just happened to be Blake's full name. There was a new Bat-signal...to remind people that the Batman was still around. If Blake were to show up as anyone other than thew Bat, it would defeat the purpose of the intended symbol.

As far as his name goes, if it turned out to be Kyle, Guy, Hal, I don't think folks would be asking if he was going to be Batman, Ion, or Green Lantern.

Now if his real name had been Kilowog Or Tomar...we'd have a discussion.

I agree that Blake takes up the mantle or cowl in this case, as the intended legend lives on as Batman per Nolans vision.

Blake, is loosely inspired by Tim Drake. Drake figures out who Bruce really is and confronts him in the comics.

No matter who Batman is to you in your mind Im glad we had Nolan and his team's vision put on screen for three films.

Where was the Joker?
Rises is based on The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel. In it, Batman is gone for 10 years. Joker is just content to stay in the insane asylum, until he hears Batman has returned.
But when he breaks out he finds the new boys, The Mutants and their Leader, regard him as yesterdays news. He finds Selina Kyle and beats her to a pulp.
In Rises Bane takes the part of the Mutants Leader.

I would guess Joker would have been in Rises if Ledger hadn't died.

So you could say Joker's still in the loony bin because he hasn't heard Batman has returned.

IMO, a nod would have been JUST as respectful as NO mention. In fact, if I was gone, I think the implication that I lived on in my roles would be comforting.

I was disappointed. It would have been remarkably easy to show Bane opening all the cells at Arkham (and a good chance for a plethora of other references) and seeing the "Joker" cell open and the fleeting image of a person quickly emerging.

Ledger has been venerated for his role, he earned an Oscar post-humously, why pretend he never existed?

I agree, a mention would have been nice and still been respectful. Although assuming Arkham was still being used (as opose to it's minimal usuage as indicated in the novel) there probably wouldn't be much chance for other villain references you mentioned anyway since they wouldn't fit into the Nolanverse continuity. Batman's been out of action for 8 years and it's Batman being in action that creates most of his central rogue's gallery which usually fills up Arkham.
