The CW's Arrow

I have to ask if anyone else has noticed any of the inconsistencies with the series. Such as:
- how Oliver said Yao Fie taught him stick fighting when it was actually Slade
- how Oliver said he was taught how to use a bow and arrow by Yao Fie when it was actually Shado
- how Diggle said he had no idea what the Russian cheers was when Oliver translated it as meaning "strength" when they went to Russia.
Just wanted to know.:):cool
Can't this be explained by simply stating that Oliver didn't necessarily want to disclose everything that happened to him just yet (at the time things were said), and that Diggle only heard the translation from Oliver that one time over a year ago? For someone who doesn't speak or use Russian, it's something you'd forget rather quickly.

Good point. It was just something I had noticed.

I'm getting tired of the characters doing stupid things because the plot needs them to. And yes, having the characters acknowledge it but then weakly rationalize it doesn't count.

Save Malcolm to save Thea's soul? Give me a friggin break.
I agree. Even though it is sweet most of the time it is just plain stupid. Going to save a mass murderer is not only stupid, but should land you in a mental institute.

Here's a quick question for everyone. Is anyone else wondering if they'll show anymore trick arrows in the future? Plus did anyone get the easter egg for the "boxing glove" arrow in episode 6 "Guilty" of this season? :confused

Oh yes, the fight with Wildcat. I really like Wildcat and was kind of disappointed with how they portrayed him. But his costume is borderline furry/mascot so i get it

Wildcat is supposed to be at least in his 40s or something. With a crusty personality. This version is nowhere close.

I'm still watching, but I'm getting tired of the batman ripoff and all the drama. What's next, Nysa and Oliver have a Child named Damian ? At this point Flash has become far superior IMO.

I'm still enjoying the show. I've always seen the similarities between batman and arrow since season one but I feel we may not get to see this storyline in batman. So I'm perfectly fine with Arrow using it. I really like the Oliver is taking control of the LoA, it reminds me of when Daredevil took control of the Hand.

I'm watching and I still like it, but I do have my criticisms:

1. The writing for Laurel. GOD she's annoying. And largely ineffective as a fighter, too. I was glad to see Nyssa training her, but whoops, now that's done with. But really, Laurel's character just seems so self absorbed and unable to see past the tip of her own nose.

2. The writing for Thea. Also very, very annoying. Some of that's the actress and how she deliver's lines. I don't think she's bad, but there's something about Thea's...I dunno...cadence? That just rubs me the wrong way. And, again, often very self-absorbed.

3. The despairing tone. It's one thing to be dark and gritty. It's quite another to be miserable all the damn time. It's why I'm really enjoying the Flash -- even wit the down notes, I still get a sense of...I dunno...optimism.

Wow and I had the direct opposite feelings on Laurel this episode! She was actually moving the plot and putting others in front. She was far less annoying than Felicity in this episode, as far as line dialog and character. Everyone else was being "oh no not Oliver, no"

Thea though, I agree with.

Everything about the show. As it started has changed. No more family. No more living the double life as a billionaire playboy.
I think they could do with bringing the show back to its roots a bit

I'm still watching and at the moment I'm just hoping that something snaps Oliver out of his current state and back to his senses.
I also don't understand why Malcolm wasn't brainwashed during his training or if he was how he was snapped out of it.
Also I don't like how they have changed the story of Ra's Al Ghul to be just a title that is passed down through the generations. It is meant to be just one person that has used the Lazarus pit for centuries.

Plus I agree with Teragon that a wedding between Oliver and Nysa is a little far fetched and too much of a spin off of Batman.
I also agree with Solo4114 about Laurel at least. I am a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and the way she uses the tonfa like a bat to beat up thugs is really annoying. Plus tonfas are supposed to be used as dual weapons not a single weapon.

In this episode, yes, she was much better than usual and less useless. But most of the time, the writers just...I dunno...it's like they hate her and want us to hate her too. And it's working.

Whoever they have doing her stunt work is either intentionally coming across as amateurish, or is really just lousy at what they do. Because nothing about Laurel's fighting is convincing to me. It doesn't help that she's constantly getting saved by other people and/or getting her ass kicked. I was hoping the appearance on The Flash and Cisco's new gizmo for her would be used to better effect, but as it stands, she's just...kinda useless. Hopefully that changes.

I really don't care for Laurel at all. If decided to leave I would t be upset

Honestly, I think Katie Cassidy is capable of so much more as an actress, but she's just getting crap material to work with. They give all the good lines to Felicity. The actress who plays Thea, I think, has talent too, in spite of my issues with her line delivery here and there (that I recognize is more a matter of personal preference than display of skill).

The cast on the show is all perfectly capable, but they have to be given good material and good direction. When they are, they're great. When they aren't...it really shows the weakness of the writing because the premise isn't enough to gloss over it.

I completely agree with this. The plot has a lot going on, but much of the dialogue in the past few episodes has been sub-par (tired, trope, unnecessary, predictable, etc.).

I am definitely still watching. With only two episodes left in the season, I'm betting we are going to get a cliff-hanger ending, rather than how they ended it last season (i.e. decent ending, then bomb us with the season premier a few months later). Frankly, though, the sudden "protagonist is now the antagonist because he's been brainwashed!" plot line has me yawning.

At C2E2 last week, I sat in on a panel with David Ramsey (Diggle), who revealed (I'm paraphrasing) that things were going to get seriously flipped upside down with the end of this season and, especially, the beginning of season 4. Honestly, I'm not crazy about that concept, but I'll keep watching to see what they do with it.

Anyone else still watching?

I am wondering how far they are going to go with Evil Oliver.

I keep figuring they're just doing crazy stuff so that when the Flash does it's inevitable Flashpoint reboot, all of this stuff will go away on Arrow too.

I think the marriage to Nyssa is what will snap Oliver out of Ra's al Ghul's mental reprogramming. Or, more to the point, his love for Felicity in the face of his marriage to Nyssa.
