Re: Arrow - Season 2

Well Arrow is a superhero show that isnt a superhero show. Green Arrow has no superpowers and also goes through alot of downturns in his own comic series.

I think the problem is not so much realism but changing expectations. Arrow is not realistic at all in that Oliver would be out of comission already after his first year. Dark and gloomy is the path alot of superhero shows and movies are going down these days but its probably because they want to change it up. Having the hero win, get the girl, no damage done has been the staple of superheroes and its gotten old. There is no tension when superman comes in because we know superman will beat the bad guy at the end of the day.

Re: Arrow - Season 2

What makes arrow interesting is that oliver as of season 2 is outmatched. Slade not only trained him and thus knows his moves, he is more experienced, has resources, is smart, and empowered. Slade's goal isnt to destroy the earth but to destroy Oliver so it is a much more personal battle between them which people like to watch because we like motovations. Bad guy holding the world hostage for one million dollars is old and cliche. (Not that that is a bad thing. Dark and moody is also overdone now so comics need to find a good balance.)

Re: Arrow - Season 2

Yea the show is an emotional rollercoaster and it's hard to read from Oliver's body language how he feels in most situations...I personally though they could've found a better actor. He's not bad as the Arrow but I don't like him as Oliver.

My favorite characters from the show so far:
1. Yao Fei
2. Detective Lance
3. Slade Wilson
4. Roy Harper

I do find myself every couple of episodes really enjoying one or two. It's kinda dumb that everyone Oliver Queen is close to is either a hero or a villain on the show. I also think it's completely mental that people are okay with Mrs.Queen running for mayor after she was a part of the undertaking. Even if she was found innocent...who would vote for her? Also ruffled my feathers that in the first season Oliver Queen basically tells everyone that he is the Hood.

Re: Arrow - Season 2

Grammar nerd observation about the finale:

During the attack on police headquarters, there's a shot of a door that says "Ordinance".
That would be ORDNANCE. Unless there are filing cabinets in there with minor local laws on them....

Re: Arrow - Season 2

They are all emotional because, even though there is an ample amount of heroes in this city, they haven't stopped any villains from doing anything, they only take revenge on the villain afterwards. Merling blew the place up, and Deathstroke killed his mom right in front of him while he whimpered. He might as well have rolled over and showed his belly like a puppy.

Is this post-911 thinking? No one feels empowered to stop something BEFORE it happens, does that just seem impossible? The only recourse is to pick up the pieces and carry on? Even Superman and Pa Kent have been reduced to shadows of their former greatness.

I'm not saying villains should never be successful at anything, but writers shouldn't have to kill so many people to empower the villain and give a sense of danger.

What happened to the guy who diffuses the bomb and saves everyone? Why does he now have to diffuse the SECOND bomb so they don't end up like the people killed by the first bomb?

I would like to see more SUPER in my superheros and less emo.

Old guy comment alert..... this generation needs a good dose of 80's movies!

Re: Arrow - Season 2

I really did like how he used to just kill everyone...he has gone all soft now. I fear the show will start to suffer from the batman syndrome. (Not that I dislike Batman).
But it's already happened with the Count. He refuses to kill him and sends him to an asylum, count breaks out of asylum. Batman sends joker, freeze, and ivy to Arkham they all break out kill people and just get sent back to Arkham where later on when the writers need a villain one of the ones in Arkham breakout and cause terror in the city.

Re: Arrow - Season 2

True, I'm just hoping it isn't going to turn into a cycle of: A bad guy shows up and gets sent to prison. Then breaks out and finally gets killed.
I'm just worried that's what it might turn into....like back in the day episodes of 'Supernatural'; every other episode was see a ghost, find the bones, burn the bones.

I'm also kind of annoyed at Slade Wilson, Deadshot, and Merlyn all being killed....and then you finding out none of them were.
Oliver just can't catch a break.

Re: Arrow - Season 2

Just finished watching all of season 1 and 2 in the past few days. Man is season 2 quite the step up from season 1, less soap opera moments, more arrow shooting. I need more Barrowman in season 3 though, it's impossible to see him on screen and not go "BARROWMAN!!! *shakes fist*".

Would also like to see Deathstroke become more of an anti-villain someday. Maybe not so soon, but someday in the future.

Also, Quentin Lance is my new hero.

What have you been watching it on? The site I was using isn't loading anything more recent than the episode 'Deathstroke' from Season 2

Hulu has all of the remaining episodes after 'Deathstroke' on their site. The CW's site also has the last 4 episodes but don't have the episode right after 'Deathstroke'. If you're in the US neither site should be a problem for watching them, but I used a VPN to watch those episodes since I'm in the UK :)

I've heard Barrowman will be a regular in S3.

Re: Arrow - Season 2

I just saw the ending of Arrow S2. And my mind was blown. Good ending. It leaves a few things to wonder for season 3.
How will Roy be played out in S3. Will he get his own suit?
Will Malcom train Thea as a archer as well and take the name "Speedy"?
Will Laura take over for The Canary?
Will Blüdhaven be ùentioned in S3 and will Nightwing appear as its protector?
Can't wait for september to start
Will we see the story of Oliver becoming Captain of the Russian maffia
