First Teaser for The CW's Arrow | Superhero Hype
First Teaser for The CW's Arrow - YouTube
Hmm. It looks promising, but I hope this guy doesn't keep Oliver so... GRIM... all the time. One of the things I liked about Green Arrow on Smallville was that he was charming and had a sense of humor as well as being a badass.
The CW's Arrow - Trailer - YouTube
In the comics Oliver was always a bit of a wiseguy towards authority figures and in how he presented his views on the world (though i doubt they do anything regarding his political views on a show for teens). Now they think heroes all need to be grim like Batman or Wolverine.
Based on the trailer, looks like they are giving this less a taste of Smallville, and more the flavor of Batman Begins with some Tony Stark (movie origin) thrown in.
Wondering how this will fare to viewers who are unfamiliar with the character and only know Hawkeye - thanks to the broad apeal and success of The Avengers.
Um... why not just call it Green Arrow? :facepalm
The guys in marketing nixed it. Apparently everyone was expecting a cape, then got angry when there was no cape. This was followed by long discussions about "Why would he have a cape if he has to pull arrows from a quiver," but hey, you know how focus groups get, right?
so they nixed it but its still on thier schedule?
No man, I'm making it up. I was talking about why there's no "green" in the title.
If it's by the smallville group, it's probably a multiyear plan to show his evolution into 'Green Arrow' so i n the beginning, he'll just be a hard * or something who has to evolve to be the guy we all know as 'Green Arrow'. In the interim, he'll just be the 'Arrow'.
But... But... But... He already has the costume in the trailer. Doesn't look like they're waiting 10 years to give him his super hero identity... :facepalm
Not his identity. They're doing a reverse job here and waiting to give him his personality
>.> Why it is not called Star city >.>
So they're gonna wait 10 seasons before giving him a personality? He's just gonna be hell-bent on revenge all that time? :facepalm
...I don't know why I'm being such a butt about this show. facepalm:rolleyes
I'll give it a shot, but if it's from the smallville crew my expectations will be low - and maybe that's a good thing.
If this is pre-smallville, does that mean it ends when he meets Clark? Hard to ignore that aspect when he was in Smallville for like 4 years, if not more. They need to do one of these where they can go well into the characters prime.
The CW's Arrow...what do you think?
I'm sure many of you have heard about the CW's new show Arrow...what do you think of the re-imagined Oliver Queen?
Not sure what I think yet haven't got a lot of details but I will watch & see. Must support any show like this at first at least so they will know there is an audience for it, and will continue making shows of the like. I like Smallville but wish they make this one a little darker and more realistic in feel. I just hope they don't make it campy.
Based on the pilot shown at SDCC it's not campy. It sure felt darker and more grounded than Smallville. There was certainly less to snark about than in Smallville.
Not sure I'd watch it long-term though. Not a big Ollie fan, and if the lead has no personality what's the point?
Thought I would share this pic, for those that hadn't seen it.
It was released a few months ago.
I'll give it a chance only because John Barrowman (Captain Jack Harkness from Doctor Who/Torchwood) is going to be in it as a/the "well dressed man."
To paraphrase Ivan Drago from Rocky IV...
"If it sucks, it sucks."
Where is the YAWN icon?

heh I guess i´ve been under rock, is this some kinda of smallville spinoff?
I'm sure the idea came from Smallville but we're looking at a whole new show!
I'm looking forward to this show ,shame they won't use the full name green arrow ,but with the green hornet film and the flop of green lantern maybe they just didn't think green was needed.
I like that we are going to see more heros and villains from the comics
Arrow is more edgy...(no pun intended, ok pun intended)
Here is a photo of the villain Deadshot
Could they be less creative with deadshot?
I'm pretty excited for this show. The extended promo looked pretty good. I was not a fan of Smallville at all, and not normally a DC fan, but I'm excited for more live action comic-based superhero shows on tv.
Maybe they're trying to go for realism and less cartoony, but it does seem though they could have been a little more creative with Deadshot.
That eye piece is lame. I'm guessing it's supposed to help target right? Well it points at a 30-45 degree angle away from ahead of the guy, so it's apparently only good at targeting people if they are off to his right side. Massive fail from the prop people. :thumbsdown
I do wish the eyepiece was centered on his eye.
Munson + mechanical monocle =Deadshot
Ya Deadshot is pretty lame. I'm interested in seeing Deathstroke after seeing the mask
Tonight! I'm going to have to download it, as I won't be home til late, but I'm going to watch the premiere out of curiosity at least. If it sucks, then I'll be a bit sad, but since I didn't really hear about it til last week, it's no big deal. My dad is super excited. Which makes their house polarized because my sister pretty much hates DC. She's all about Marvel, so she's been hissing and sighing every time the topic comes up and my dad mentions it. He's pretty...indiscriminate with tv show premises. He doesn't care where they came from, he only watches while he thinks it's good, and if he loses interest partway, that's that. he doesn't get attached. XD
Maybe he has a lazy eye.
The first episode was pretty good, IMO. I like the parkour and fluid action shots showing him running around. I don't know anything about the source material but, for the most part, it seems geared toward a more mature audience. He kills quite a few people!
Did anyone notice that Queens mansion is Lex Luthors' mansion with some tweaks?
I thought it looked familiar. ...and the bad guys are bald. He's not in Gotham, but it didn't sound lie they were saying Star City either.
its starling city. wtf.
im guessing this is not canon with smallville. or at least i cant figure out the connection. i liked it for what it was, but will keep my judgement until a few eps in
I watched it this morning. I happen to like it so far. Definitely think it's geared more towards adults. I just hope every episode isn't based on him getting revenge against Starling City's criminals. That could get boring really fast.
Yep, both inside and out.
I thought they were saying Star City last night. I think more people died in last night's episode than in 10 years of smallville
I'm guessing the island wasn't deserted. There was the mask on the beach as well as the fact that he was the only thing in the boat when it made the island and somehow he's got a high dollar compound bow while on the island.
I enjoyed it. I thought the parkour was pretty cool.
I liked it but I want to see if they stay consistent. I enjoyed that they made it more adult oriented more of a vigilante than a hero all bad guys must go to jail style. It is refreshing and they need to keep this edgy style.
It kind of had a Batman Begins feel to it. Which is not an issue to me!
I just watched it and am really liking it so far, wasn't sure how good of a job would be done but so far so good!
Deadshot showing up will porbably change the way I feel about this show...for better or worse
is this guy doing the parcour all himself? i tried to see if its a stuntman but it looked like it was him all the time.
