I was thinking that as well. Might just end up being a fun one to make and not that hard. Plus it's one to easily get to a point, stop, and then come back to for refinements.

On the cord note I have a question. So the handle is not any cord or lace but a thin piece of leather that is twisted into a round cord looking piece.

Trying to find thin leather that is long enough is a challenge. Also the nearest leather store is 3 hours away.

Art said he thought the piece was about 12' long after twisting and possible 20"+ before twisting.

Does anyone know the thickness of the leather for the handle?

I know Art said and showed it was 1/2"-5/8" wide but how thick and how do you fine a piece that long?

Any search for thinner leather I can find is way too short.

I lazied out and used regular leather latigo thong for mine, but I seem to recall seeing some braided leather thong on eBay or Amazon (I can't swear as to the maximum length available, though).

Anyone know where to get a good piece of metal to make the machete?

I am probably gonna make it out of aluminum but I want to consider a good steal for a machete like 440c stainless or some other type.

I am having trouble finding a place that has a piece. It seems simple but no luck so far.

Here's mine (I finally found the images, lol). It's not 100-percent SA, but it works for me.

I never actually took any decent "beauty shots", but you get the idea.
