The Batman

Having the batcave be in the middle of downtown seems a little dangerous. Yeah its kinda hidden, but youd still think he'd have the occasional bum wandering down there.

About halfway through i realized the movie had the mood of an Animated episode, i thnk just all the detective stuff gave me that feeling. It was really good. I loved the ending few scenes where he's just shown HELPING people. Being a hero.

Pretty much. It wasn't only Heath Ledger, it was him + the script & filmmaker & crew he was working with.

Joachim Phoenix wasn't playing the conventional Joker so it's not comparable.
Leto's Joker was a PG-13 version of a Joel Schumacher villain.

Look at what happened after Christopher Reeve played Superman. That role was basically closed for a generation. Warner Bros won't admit it but I think that is the situation with the Joker now. Ledger's movie was already 13 years ago and it still feels like an impossible act to follow.

The studios always get too fixated on a couple of villains in the big superhero franchises. Why can't we get a live-action Batman vs Clayface movie?
Yea I feel the same way about Robert Downey and Hugh " Damn Right " Jackman. Can anyone else play Tony Stark/ Ironman and Wolverine ? I'm pretty sure someone will, but can they come close to the perfect fit of those two. I'll vote no, but it's not an election so who cares ; ) There is such a thing as lightning in a bottle, metaphorically speaking. Time will tell. Time can't keep it's mouth shut.

If you do Clayface right then he is a more organic version of the liquid metal man from 'Terminator 2.'

But yeah, there's a big risk of producers cutting corners on the CGI and making it look worse than a bad 1990s movie.

There would be no excuse for it today. Clayface is a pretty basic CGI job by modern standards. Either they spend the necessary money or they don't.

In any other context besides CGI this wouldn't even be a problem. They wouldn't hire a total amateur actor to play the Joker just to save a couple million bucks. If it was a 10-foot-tall Stan Winston animatronic monster, they wouldn't get cheap on the rubber skin or paintjob. Etc. I don't understand why bad CGI always gets a pass.

It was annoying how dark the image was in our theater. It's not just a problem with this movie but so many movies anymore. As much as I can appreciate an accurate depiction of a film image I also have to be able to see what's happening so I don't know what's going on lately with movies.

It's the same thing with sound design. They clobber you so hard with all the SFX and music. Making the dialogue understandable is too far down on the priorities list.

I'm convinced that is why it's common for people to watch TV with the subtitles activated these days. People are stuck choosing between having the music/SFX too loud or not being able to understand the dialogue. They elect to keep the volume down and switch on the subtitles.

IMO home video discs (if they still exist in a few more years) should give you the option of adjusting the dialogue louder in relation to the other sounds. It wouldn't cost anything extra to do this. The separate audio tracks already have to exist for foreign language dubs.

Cheap ass movie theaters charging us $15 a soda, but won't pay to have their projectors properly calibrated to modern movies.

Going forward it would be nice to see them delve into villains who haven't had the big screen treatment. Clayface is one I've been dying to see. The Mad Hatter. There's a whole slew of villains to chose from.
They made a pretty blatant nod to Hush, so that may be a route they go in future installments.

I'd love to see a deepfake Vincent Price version of Egg Head..
The results could be quite divine!..

We are seeing it in IMAX at weekend so hoping its a belter of a screen, my stepson said good things from when he saw Dune..

That was a huge drawback on GOTs..who's that whats this.. pft.

Apparently, the darkness issue is very much intentional. So intentional in fact that some theatres have posted signs right before their shows to reassure people that it's not an issue with the projector. Something similar happened with Tenet, where the dialogue is inaudible in many places, which was on purpose. I dislike both takes personally.

Not to get too sidetracked but it's funny you mentioned GOT considering just today as I was crossing the street I walked past Peter Dinklage.
