The Avengers VS. The Dark Knight Rises....Where I stand on the matter

Didn't even know it was a debate between these 2 films. :rolleyes

Personally, I love them both and don't really care what other people think about them.

No, this thread wasn't started to ruffle feathers. I just wanted to have a discussion that I haven't been able to have in my "real" life, due to lack of interest on my friend and family's part. But I see how terribly wrong I was to think I could have one, apparently. Now I really don't want to partake in any movie discussion for a while now.

I don't know what you were expecting, but there are strong opinions here on the RPF. So yeah, if you're gonna come at me with banal sarcasm (" I'm like 90% sure it was related to the detail that he's wearing a mask that covers his mouth. But, not too sure on that one.") Then yeah, I might get a little pithy in kind.

Probably wanna grow a bit of a thicker skin.

JD, the Dent act gave enough power to the cops to effectively clean the street, thus the lesser need of batman to do so. Plus Batman did retire in TDK Returns to came back years after. Granted he was older in returns, but given the more "realistic" approach of Nolan, Bruce would be used much younger than usual like a pro athlete, so I'd say it's basically the same.
Won't waste anymore time since I'm pretty sure neither I or you will change anything in our point of view.
Out of curiosity, did you like the Arkham asylum/city version of Batman ?

jlee, your responses were indeed pretty concise. And if you hadn't noticed, I actually thanked you for your last one. I was more referring to third3ye and JD when I mentioned being discouraged from participating in movie discussions. Being met with circular arguments, comments suggesting what I want to talk about isn't worth it/pointless, people accusing me of baiting, insinuations that I don't know enough about Batman to talk about him, and sentiments of frustration (not referring to you with any of these) was what made me not really want to continue discussing. As to your "thicker skin" comment, well, sorry if I don't enjoy multitudes of negative comments toward me. I took away important lessons from the majority of them, but apparently everyone wants to overlook the fact that I conceded that a while ago.

The Avengers, hands down because The Dark Knight Rises was clearly the worst of the Nolan trilogy. If you want to talk the best of the trilogy against The Avengers, then The Dark Knight wins out for me in terms of compelling bad guy and story.
