The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (Post-release)

Just saw the movie and didn't enjoy it at all

Cringe-fest

The 'funny' moments were not funny, the Spidey in slow-mo was over done, some of the CG looked a bit like a video game, the romance sequences were uncomfortable.

After seeing The Winter Soldier a few weeks ago, this movie just felt too forced, whereas TWS flowed more naturally and you felt more tension in the action sequences

When I was a kid my main collection of comics were Spiderman, now he's probably the one I prefer least,.......If he were to be included in with the Marvel Studio's Avengers group, I would say he could thrive there

Are you sure you watched the correct movie :D

Maybe I just wasn't in the mood, perhaps the UK version (with all it's cliched England jokes) is a different version than what you guys saw

J

:p i loved the slap stick comedy lile stuff he did. Like the ooze he catched.
I know the romance thing was much but somehow i liked it cuz it seemed real to me and really catched me. Also it gave a connection to peter so i almost felt the loss of her like he did.

It just a matter of taste :)

Tbh I was a little disappointed with this film. It looked beautiful. Garfield and the rest of the cast did fantastic jobs. It was funny and the fights were very cool. But the story had no impact. The bit with Gwen was great (best bit). I felt like they got lost with what direction to take with the movie. Too many villains AGAIN in my opinion. Electro was a villain that felt unnecessary, the time would have been better spent developing harry as the goblin and the relationship between him and Peter if thats where they wanted to take the story. I was confused with the credits sequence, I was expecting a build up to something much bigger instead we got a clip from xmen... weird.

This movie perfectly encompasses everything Spider-Man. This beats out Spider-Man 2 in my book by a long shot (Sure, story-wise Spider-Man 2 is better, but this film is honestly, the very essence of Spider-Man). The casting was terrific (with the exception of Paul Giamati who was a little too over-the-top), the Spidey humor is SO true to the comics, and the visuals are just absolutely brilliant. I can't even express how great the visuals were, it's just so perfect.

The film's also riddled with homages and references to the comics which is a lot of fun. Looks like Sony's getting ready for some serious expansion of the Spidey universe. And I love that this film was not afraid to take risks. I was afraid that the producers would wimp out and not let Gwen Stacy die.

It also finally holds to the promise of "The Untold Story" advertised for the first movie.

The film was not without its faults, however. Most noticeably, the first thirty or so minutes. The cuts were extremely jumpy and random, and scenes really had no flow. I attribute this to them needing to shorten the run time, and after the initial rushing, it found a good pace. The movie felt a little crowded, but I think it worked well nevertheless.

Overall, a lot's going on, so it felt a little rushed, but this is pretty easy to forgive, considering how spot on it nailed Spidey. This, in my opinion, was the essence of Spider-Man, and it now officially takes its spot as my favorite Spider-Man movie of all time.

(Forgot to add, Peter finally started using google. Guess the studios got sick of all the hate about bing, haha)

Just saw this, really great. I don't mind the one-dimensional characters, specifically, Rhino and Electro. Any comic will have some underdeveloped villains, not there as pure cannon fodder, but not essential to the plot either. I didn't mind that Rhino's intro came at the end either. People complain when you get two villains, God forbid three, so no complaints here.

What bugged me was the song that Electro was playing in his head. His inner monologue was some kind of rock and roll singer!? And the end scene credits...:facepalm

And that Gwen scene carried on for too long. Which was good. But bad, because I was holding back the waterworks.
I liked how Peter's suffering really showed here, and Aunt May had some great advice.

They Nailed it with Harry Osborn as well, IMO.

Great film overall.

I agree. I just love this movie. Almost perfect movie :D if it would have been 3hours long and added by some wall crawlings and more swinging scenes it would be better :D

The point mentioned from ppl that electro was unnessecary in the movie i dont see.
First a villain doesnt need to be part of the main story. Also he was needed to get harry into osborn. Also to introduce smyth.

As far as the slo-mo...

That's Spiderman's thing. How can he not use it? I'm surprised they used it to such great effect. I had no clue what was happening when it went slo-mo on the Times Square scene. But once I saw Spidey swing into action I realized just how awesome his Spidey sense really was. And he saved so many people thanks to this power.
This isn't Maguire Spidey waiting for New Yorker's to carry him out on a stretcher.:lol

And the firefighter scene was great. Really, all the first responder's and the other misc. jobs like air traffic controllers showed how individual people can be heroes in their own way.

after reading this thread I'm excited for next weekend!!

Don't get too excited, be prepared for a movie similar in feeling to Batman & Robin or Superman 3

Compared to 'The Winter Soldier' this film is like a Twilight movie

Need to go see it but what's up with the graphics in the trailers? I'v seen video games with graphics like that... very unreal...

Also... that's a LOT of bad guys... no way Spiderman get out of this alive... i mean common :lol

The CG was mostly great, just a strange part with Spidey in the back of a van trying to catch glass canisters, noticeably video-game-ish.

I get that a lot of people are very satisfied that this movie does a great job of bringing Spidey the comic book character to life, I know that many were pissed that Sam Rami's films changed fundamental elements of Spider-man/Peter Parker's character, and are glad that Mark Webb is staying closer to the source.

I agree with them on that

I cnt compare it with winter soldier. Cap am in that movie is a character without privte life And the character got introduced thru 2 movies already.
Peter has a private live and is a deeper character and that was needed to be shown to bring the audience closer to him (emotionally).

Winter soldier is more a spy movie. Tasm2 is a bit mix of action and drama in my opinion. And i love it that way tbh.

The van scene was a bit strange. But I think its because he moved that quick. Which the original spider-man could do in the comics. Somthing about super speed. I re read it recently in silver age. Think he tied up either the enforcers or 3 regular bad guys in like 3 seconds.

this saddens me.. the first ASM movie was garbage to me being a hard core comic goer...

rami did a outstanding job with the first two films, and he blames all the 3rds failure because he was pushed by hasbro to bring venom into the whole thing, when he strictly wanted only sandman...

either way i think spiderman 2 is the best one out of all of them

I agree, Rami's Spiderman 2 is a great movie,

I really thought Sony would get it right this time

J

Just got back from this and I personally loved it. I've never read the comics so I don't know how true they stayed to original material but I can say I had a great time and plan to go again.

Spider-Man has always been my number one, loved him since I was very little, I mean I even showed up to the premiere today in costume! Saying that, I tried really hard to like this movie. Casting is fantastic, I love Garfield as Spider-Man, and the rest of the cast is great, for the most part. The humor truly felt like Spider-Man, and I liked the dynamics between most characters, the Peter and Gwen relationship came off great and "THAT" scene truly was heart-wrenching.

However, there was just so much I had to try and "let slide" that I was kind of overwhelmed. Is it a bad move? No, not by any means. Was I disappointed? Yes, I was. Maybe I'll change my mind on a repeat viewing, but I don't know if I want to again, at least while it's still in theaters.

You owe it to yourself to see it simply because it's Spider-Man, but sadly, I was not overly amazed.
