I just got me acryl paint and a spray sealer.
I will do it with that :)
I guess it should work.

acrylic sucks on that nylon powder stuff from shapeways...... i had a hard time painting my tasm1 shooters with acrylic paint took many coats...

I painted mine. The acryl paint just needed one coat. I did 3 in total. But didnt make a difference. I just suck in using brushes ^^ im a drawer and not a painter.
And the finishing with the sealer made them feeling good. I just have to put another sealing layer on it tomo

just make sure you prime the shooters first and the painting should be easier. i use a gray prime spray paint from tamiya(i use acrylic paints and not enamel, because enamel can get tacky and sticky). if you do it this way, make sure you arent too close when spraying. you want to do lighter coats so there is no large puddles of paint.

get something you dont care about and do some practice sprays on it first to make sure the tip isnt clogged or spitting out large paint globs.

Some costumes have zippers in the back of the neck to flip the hood down. Where would you put that? Is it where the pattern ends for the back torso piece or do you have to make a cut?

I make it on the whole back of the mask. I stretch it too to install a 40cm zipper.

And i guess all suits have that zipper :)
I dont know how it should be possible to get the head thru the small neck area

So along the split between the two back pieces?

Anybody printed Ken's web patterned sole yet? And if so what kind of flexible material did you use? I am looking to get a pair for my ASM2 costume in a size 12.

I guess nobody printed them so far.
I dont know if there is any kind if rubber or kautchuk u can 3d print.

U could get a sole plate and cut 2 soles and make the pattern in it.

I just use prestructured sole plates i cut into shape.
I will be standing on my feet most of the time. So nobody will see it anyways

First off, here's another thanks to Ken for the files.

Second, I'd like people's input for my modification to Ken's file.
What I did:
  • Thinned and made the webs plain black
  • Darkened the muscle shadings
  • Changed the spider symbols
  • Removed the finger grips and sole
  • Lightened the colors

I was going to an "Amazing-Modern-McFarlane" look. I want input on the colors.

Do you guys think the colors will be too bright when printed?

Thanks.

To all the people who sew their own costumes, do you have any particular methods to ensure a fitting costume such as a duct tape dummy or something similar? Or do you simply sew the pieces together among the lines? Excuse me if this is a dumb question but I'm new to the hobby and would rather not mess up something as expensive as the pattern

For me it will work like this:
I bring the suit to my seamstress. She sews it by the lines.
Few days later i go there again and try the suit on and she marks and changes what doesnt fit right.
And again few days later i pick it up ^^

Sew it to the lines, try it on, take it in where it is loose ( usually the mid section and/or the thighs)
