Hi Aron
Redtogusa has mixed navy blue with black and got a nice shiny effect on his TASM 1 suit. He used dylon, not tulip. I am planning to do the same on my TASM 2 suit, but I am not sure if I should add a 10% metallic silver to the mixture. (would be 10% met silver, 55% navy blue 35% black)

did anyone else use dylon? is it really much better than tulip?

Painted my webshooter.
I know i suck in using brushes but i like still like it ^^View attachment 339166

those looks so smooth and perfect!!!

First off, here's another thanks to Ken for the files.

Second, I'd like people's input for my modification to Ken's file.
What I did:
  • Thinned and made the webs plain black
  • Darkened the muscle shadings
  • Changed the spider symbols
  • Removed the finger grips and sole
  • Lightened the colors

I was going to an "Amazing-Modern-McFarlane" look. I want input on the colors.

Do you guys think the colors will be too bright when printed?

Thanks.

AHH YES!!! nice classic looking suit, im not sure how the colors will show up on the fabric, but this looks super nice!

Anybody printed Ken's web patterned sole yet? And if so what kind of flexible material did you use? I am looking to get a pair for my ASM2 costume in a size 12.

Hey man, i have seen you post this a bunch of times, and i feel really sad that no one has any answers for you. i havent printed them. im going with some wrestling/boxing shoes and just ripping the soles off of the bottom and gluing them to the shoes through the fabric so the inside still has a formed shoe in it. its a trick i saw a guy on instagram do. his name on there is Reallifespidey. he has some pictures that show what he did. i found the same shoes he is using for around 29 dollars on amazon.

if you end up printing them the only ideas i have are:
1. getting them 3d printed in Ninja flex filament. its rubbery, but im not sure how durable it is when walking on it.(thats why i going with pre-made shoe soles and just attatching those)
2. printing them with whatever plastic, than making a mold of them and pouring some sort of silicone rubber to make the sole that way.

you can find some local people with 3d printers on a site called 3dhubs.com i found a guy to make the faceplate for me that way, and you could end up talking to the person and working it out a little better depending on how nice and helpful they are. they might know the size that will print out and be able to modify the scale for you.

i hope some of this helps and good luck. if you get them printed show us here so we can see how it turned out.

That looks really great. I did a research on Dylon and found it's a fabric dye, I wonder if he mixed it with something.

I'm going to try use it on my KinoKaoru suit, and possibly mix a matte black finish onto it to get that rubber matte look.

Hi, do you know which pattern this Reallifespidey used?

To mix colors is good to get a good effect. Not sure if its easy to mix it exact the same every time. Also if the paints mix nice or of they seperate themselves after a bit in the bottle.
I dont know that other company tbh.
For my next project i will mix slick black with black latex (no tasm2 of course) So i didnt look more into paints for brick patterns ^^

Hi, do you know which pattern this Reallifespidey used?

im pretty sure he used the "2013 delux 3-D Red and Blue Spiderman Costume" from zentaizone (NOT ZENTAIZENTAI), he has done a ton of customization to it, adding zippers, shoes, he painted a honeycomb print on it by hand. i think he made his own faceshell and shooters also, just sculpted them. he is pretty crafty.

So do I have to wash my print before i start working on it? Just received it and i'm eager to get started :D
If so, why do I have to wash it?

If u dont wash it. It can be that the paint has no full contact to the fabric cause of left overs if the paint/dust.
So the paint can peel off when u stretch the fabric

So that mean I should definitely wash it. Will it cause it to shrink a little? (i kinda hope it does im 5"8.5') huehuehue

Ehm. No.
I washed it at 30degrees celsius and with a tiny bit of color wash liquid.

I dont know if u can wash it more hot.
Usually spandex is around 30-40 celsius.

After puffpainting i will only hand wash it.

I bought a liquid washer which is colored clothes. I was afraid it could lose color.
I think it enhanced the colors a bit and made it more bright and shiny. Maybe its imaginary but i like it :)

Woah, whats a liquid washer for colored clothes? Never heard of that. I just have regular detergent :/ I don't want to lose color D: Please link an example of what you bought? or send me the name of it :3
I'm pretty sure it enhanced the colors, don't worry you're not crazy xD

Well. There r 2 types of detergents (sorry i used the word washer. Im german and sometimes i have a lack if vocab).
There are powders and liquid ones. I used a liquid (was told its softer to the fabic. No clue if that is true).
And there are ones that are for color clothes to keep the colors etc.

Will do o7

I'll have to research more on this matte finish paint

I have all these ideas in my head just waiting to be tested out, it's just a matter of me finding time to work on it. I live in an apartment so all my tools are at a friend's.

Here's what i did with those flat frame on first post. After bend it correctly over the oven to fit my faceshell.

1- I took a plastic bottle at the grocery store that have a nice curve to give this "dome" effect to the lense.
2- I went to see the local company that makes advertising in shop windows if they can sell me a sheet or two of those plastic adhesive mesh and they gave me a roll of scrap. About 1 m²... free!!
3- I put the dome, cut it to fit my frames, put the vinyl mesh on it...then I brought them over heat of the oven to avoid any fold or bubble. Which works pretty gr8 at first try!!
4-Then i still have 1 or 2 fold spots... to fix it i took a knife, heat it over the oven and push it against those small fold areas and it stretch to the surface as a charm!!

I still need to glue the lenses to the frames, add magnets to them and to my faceshell and i'll be done with those!!
Hope it helps! And thanks for the concept Jeck13500
I wonder if however u would like to have a glass over the mesh... maybe it could be possible to put a cellphone screen protector over it... but i dont want to ruins these i just made..
I probably test it later.....
