hey guys i am wondering if anyone has ever made the Abyss underwater suits.. i have a friend that really loves that movie and wants to make one.. does anyone have any ideas on how to accomplish this..

we have thought about getting 2 visors and making it were you can fill water in between the 2 visor to make the appearance that your suit has that oxidized water in it..

For some reason this is one of my top five movies, great story, great script, great cast. Cool idea for costume, good luck. Maybe one acrylic sphere, cut in half or to fit, then spaced apart parallel with each other. Use vacuform plastic or equivalent to make a 1" space between, glue or plastic weld together, then fill with your liquid.

If you watch the Special features on the DVD, it shows that the visor on the Deep Dive suit was "filled" with fluid to simulate a filled helmet. Ed Harris raises and lowers the visor.

Excellent movie, and one of my all time favorites. Very underrated, almost unknown by the general public. I'm glad to see someone attempting a costume from it! :thumbsup

What a great Movie. It had a little bit of everything in it.

Watch the making of the Abyss. I recommend it.

YES!!! Actually, not too long ago, I was recommending that same thing to a friend of mine, as we were talking about all the best behind the scenes "films" that've been made over time. I think they called it "Into the Abyss" or something like that.

What a MASSIVE undertaking, to make that film.

Thought I'd bring back this ancient thread since so much cool AByss research is popping up around here.

Here's a few pics too.
