You've got a great knife there. Shane does awesome work and is a very cool guy.
Thought I'd add a little history...
I spoke to George Lainhart at length back in late 1991 regarding his SEAL knife. During our conversion regarding the "SEAL Knife" he explained that SEALs had requested a corrosion resistant finish and among the various finishes he was experimenting with, he spoke highly of Titanium Nitride which has a gold coloration. At the time he was happy to make one for me with a TiN coating though ultimately I could not afford one. I was a SCUBA Instructor but I didn't have that kind of loot for a dive knife...Ughh I would have loved to own a Titanium Nitrided Lainhart SEAL Knife.
Anyway, George also explained that as of Desert Storm SEALs were requesting a different blade shape/geometry that would defeat ballistic body armor. Perhaps why this particular knife didn't had a longer life. I think there were later iterations of this knife that had a straighter clip point that was more in-line with the centerline of the knife for thrusting.
I think George was making his knives for ST 2 guys...Could be wrong though. It's been a loooong time.
Again, nice knife!
