the absolute BEST Star Trek tunics ?

Looks like the color isn't far off. You might want to use the same ratio of dye in a large tub of water, and watch the fabric carefully until it's the correct color.

my new tunic just got it today ....

but had no give but she put a zipper in that one but we axed the zipper for the new one

Cheers...

BTW I visited the Christies' lots for the upcoming Star Trek auction... there's a room set up like the bargain rack at Barney's... just hundreds and hundreds of outfits on hangers.

No photography but I got to inspect the TOS and even Cage outfits. As in actually HANDLE and touch. :D

The lightweight velour material felt and looked just like an actual screenused Kirk shirt, which I inspected a few years back.

General Mayhem's replica that he made for me is pretty darn close, even in COLOR. Which really does look mustardy yellow and NOT green. LOL

I noted that the rank braid strips were only ONE CENTIMETER wide, which is narrower than on my replica braid. Close but not completely identical.

One of the "purple" Science tunics in the auction has got the correct "blue" material visible INSIDE the collar. This piece was supposedly one of the original Cage costumes that was modified for series.

I note that the TMP "Lt. JG" rank stripes, had a wavy strip EVEN on the half-stripe "dashes". Bizarre.

DeForest Kelley's TMP "belt buckle" life signs monitor was loose; it was very thin vacformed plastic.

Inspected several WOK style jackets. Color varied from deep marooney brick red, to a lighter BRIGHT "blood red". I guess the lighter color was used in later films. The Delta-shield Starfleet chest badge looked pretty much identical to the J Kerezman replica I showed a few months ago, tho there were other ones as well (painted not dark bronze, but GOLD. So I guess both kinds are accurate after all)

Hi everyone.
Just wanted to share an image of our latest addition that was sent out and received by a gracious customer.
Our TOS first season wrap tunic, I'll tell you my hands were cramped after all the hand sewing with the velcro and hems.
Hope you enjoy it and that you've all had a great weekend. :D

Thanks to yet another miracle opportunity, I got a couple of reference shots off of the Uhura 1st season command dress that was at Christies. :D

Was the sleeve really a different color or is it just the lighting?

Excellent idea using the card for reference. But will just grey scales help you determine color?

The gray card lets you adjust the "white balance" after the fact. Basically if you have a gray value in the picture, you can use Photoshop's Curves eyedroppers to "fix" the gray level. By photographing the QP card in the ambient room light, you can thus rectify color casts.

Even better is the full-color QP card, but unfortunately I don't carry that one with me all the time... I probably should.

Anyway the corrected photo there looks exactly how it should, IMHO.

BTW what do you mean the sleeve is a different color, it looks the same to me.

At the end of the sleeve, it looks more gold next to the shirt, which looks greener in comparison.

Higher up on the sleeve I do not see the difference. Lighting, I guess.

Here's my General Mayhem tunic vs the Christies' dress.

And yes, lighting does make a difference. The harsh overhead light at Christies brings out the "tooth" of the fabric. My tunic looks similar in overhead lighting (it's lying down in my photo comparison).

Here are a couple of pictures of actor Vic Mignogna wearing a tunic we made for him, doing his best Shatner impression...he's such a ham.
