the absolute BEST Star Trek tunics ?

Some Great info here .. Im having a kirk uniform made by a friend of mine and im grabbing all the info i can for her im a little confused if I shoud put the zipper in or not .I will have to see if she has done it befor im sure she has as most dress's have them.

I think if your material doesn't have a lot of stretch to it you'll really need the zipper, otherwise the only reason the real costumes had it was to avoid messing up the actors makeup.

That Pic would look nice on Dave's Braid thread. ;)

Vaderman: You'd think that Rodd.com/Majel/LincolnEnterprises, ought to have the most accurate insignias and braids... but I think they've changed over the decades due to "copies of copies" syndrome. The latest Rodd.com patches are a little too big and straight-sided.

Shanko: great tunics. But you might want to look into wearing a "screen accurate" black T-shirt under that thing. ;)

Of course you're right. I am not current on this stuff.

I know Rod (Gene Jr.) is doing his best, but he only has what Majel left him of Lincoln stuff and the same resources as the rest of us, except a few boxes in the garage to raid for samples. ;)

Whoever has deep enough pockets will be able to get the real stuff at the Christie's auction this October. So much Paramount Trek stuff they have set aside three days to auction it all off.

Lots of uniforms, shooting models, props, etc.

I would think the catalogue of the sale will end up being a great reference in and of itself.

Hey I got my GeneralMayhem tunic today. :D

It looks great, he did a fine job. Very good construction. All the seams are right where they should be, proportions, everything looks spot on.

The color is not quite as orange as in the pix he originally posted. Probably not identical to screenused either, but what can you do. Also the velour doesn't have the subtle "glittery" effect of the screenused material.

My only issue (and it's minor) is the collar, which droops a little in front. Probably my neck measurement was a little generous. Oh well, better too loose than too tight.

Glad you're happy with it the final product. We always try to make our products as close to the originals as possible. You can see what I meant about the color looking different in various kinds of light, like the originals did. It changes depending on the ambient light it's photographed under.

I took my pix under "daylight white" fluorescent bulbs, so I'd think my pix are close to representing the actual color. My subjective opinion is that it looks like a "mustard" color, which fits the bill.

We ordered some fabric we're considering for the black "sparkle" pants material. I'll post some pictures when it comes in. For those that can't do without the glitzy futuristic look.

;)

Just thought I'd throw this into the mix... saw this at Comic Con. The guy wearing it claimed that the shirt was made for the Deep Space Nine episode "Trials and Tribbleations"... he said it was worn by the guy standing in for Captain Kirk in the shots where the DS9 actors were composited into the film from TOS.

If true, this shirt is not terribly accurate, or at least the braid is not accurate.

I'm really enjoying the screencaps in this thread (great job, Karl), so I thought I'd make a contribution....here's a photo of a tunic I took recently...
