Matt that kit is just a simple electrical switch, 2 spark plugs and a wire or two. So much cheaper to buy these pieces and DIY. Just simply drill a hole bout 3-4 inches before the end of exhaust pipes. Then mount the spark plug to the whole, also make sure to take the whole "measure twice cut once" into account here. After this simply run the wire, and connect the wire to frame. Make sure this is done securely. Then simply mount the switch and when you hit it, it turns on the sparkplugs. When you push the motor to higher rpms(somewhere in 3-5k range) the extra exhaust is pushed out and ignites. So simply spend 30 bucks and get these parts yourself.

Also take note of this although a show car Flamethrower kits in Cali are "illegal" so make sure you mount the sparkplug toward the inner part of the exhaust pipe. Also hide the wiring would hate for you to get a ticket from a cop because of this. The illegal fact has been the only thing preventing me from putting flamethrower kits on my chevelle.
 
I dunno man, I'd rather spent three times as much and NOT run the risk of burning my car down!!! lol

All good I prob would get the kit, if I was not as confident in my mechanic abilities as I am. However still take my advice to heart such as running the wire and spark plugs attached with the kit on the inner part of the car. Again has to do with the illegal fact of the flamethrower kit, no reason to advertise the wiring to something illegal if you can avoid it. Also be careful how often you hit the switch on the kit the last inch of your pipes(usually the tips) tend to get nice and burned.

Last if you run into any problems installing the kit, do not hesitate to hit me up.
 
More progress today ,and most impressive of all is the shell leveller thing-a-mabob that BTW fabricated from scratch.

Did about another hour of body work today. Finished up removing the passenger side air intake, and did a bit of putty work here and there. Mostly spider cracks that were revealed when I put on the coat of primer. Also did some putty work around the front fender and front intake.

AND I spent just as much time cleaning up the garage. Very easy to get messy in there!

That will only work if the car is running VERY rich. There are no unburned hydrocarbons(to flame) in a modern car with a catalytic converter.
The old school trick was to have a switch that killed the ignition-diverted volts to a second coil, with leads running to plugs in the exhaust tips. Then you would mash the throttle and flip the switch, raw fuel would be ignited by the exhaust plugs, flame thrower. The real budget trick was, if you had a manual tranny, to cut the ignition while rolling in gear, wait a second, then cut the ignition back on: KA-BLAM!!

Really amazing.
For the flames, You should rig up something you have better control over like a torch with a solenoid valve and a piezo igniter. Otherwise, yeah, you are having to run rich or hollow out the cat to get the unburned gases to the exhaust, but it won't ever be an even, controlled burst of flame.
What is the donor vehicle for this, again? I'm sure it was mentioned and I can go look, I just was too lazy to go back through 40 pages of this thread, that I know I would get sucked back into reading in minute detail for hours! :D

I will keep watching the skies for that Matt-signal.
 
I was going to bump this with a couple of pics that I took of Jeff D. 89-mobille that I took two weeks ago at the Sunday Car meet in Woodland Hills. Nice guy, if you are into puppet comedy haha. His conical spinner for the turbine was flaccid. Dont know if this was screen accurate or not.

Nothing says 'deadly ready for paint' than tan primer. Congrats on the new digs. Next step, mini fridge and a couch.

Congrats on the new work space! Looking forward to future progress though I imagine that even though you got some primer on that shell, there's still a lot of work to be done all around? Did you finish redoing that wheel well?
 
No progress on the wheel well. I've decided to delay all body work until the thing is up and running. One thing at a time.

Mini fridge is on the list of "Must haves" for the new batcave, as is a ratty old couch. Donations welcome :D
 
Not sure he's even still working on it to be honest but then I haven't talked to him in months. We had planned to get together when I was in LA in July but I could never get ahold of him and he wasn't home when I stopped by his house.

Who knows. I heard a rumor he was getting away from props but again....who knows.
