The 3rd Doctor Who's Sonic Screwdriver

Yeah I've been eyeing it for about a month (when the first pics surfaced of it in its container)

I'm probably gonna end up picking at least one up, if not two so I can repaint one the Baker colours.

Great little toy. I'll probably get one.

If you're looking for a prop replica though it's really off. Russ here sells some pretty nice ones.

That said for the price you can't go wrong!

it's plastic XD It's a toy replica and will probably going to be about $25 or so bucks.

Thing I'M curious about is how accurate the grips black markings are. I mean on screen we never see the grip though there is a wide black section right below the Doctors hand in one shot from the Sea Devils I believe. I would hypothesize that there may be some behind the scene photos of the prop that were never released to the public for them to reference.

They must have had access to more detailed pictures as the toy has some writing and drawing on it too. Apparently this was on the prop.

Here's the 3rd Doctor toy sonic prototype as it appeared a few weeks ago at SDCC

I thought exactly the same thing. But with the way Doctor Who merchandising is going these days I'd say if this has been released it won't be a long wait for a baker version...

Question is, will it be a straight-up repaint of the Pertwee version, or will they mold a new handle section?

Bumping this old thread as there's new video I found of this:

YouTube - Third Doctor Sonic Screwdriver Review

and

YouTube - Third Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver Review

You'll have to do some fast forwarding in both to get to the relevant parts...both reviewers ramble a bit but the second link is a bit worse.

A few things I'm amazed at is the scale is VERY close to accurate. It CAN be activated by just the thumb but it uses the 9th/10th Doctors CO toy sonics sound board which I found odd.

Doctor who merchandising is going through the roof, i mean i know a 4 year old who knows more about doctor who than me and hes never watched an episode just watch the proms and read a few books, so i mean its not going to be long before they start reproducing things from years ago but probably give them a modern spin

I envy the kids these days. My two year old has cooler toys than I did for the most part. Still, I had neat gun toys like a full sized m16 carbine and they don't make those anymore.

Just to bring this up again, I picked one up, and its a really great piece. My only complaint would be that the emitter tip is cast in red, instead of cast and then painted, so it looks a bit plastic, but overall its pretty awesome.

The best place I knew just closed down but I'll put you in touch with the guy in case he has any left while he sells off his remaining stock....
