The $350 Yeti.

Here we are at another $350 build. Times call for a Yeti and what more do I need in the closet to go with Bigfoot, Krampus and the Boggy Monster but a damn Yeti?

Had some alginate about to get old so we made a new lifecast for me. I have much more hair and muscles and fat than is represented in the old lifecast.
(That and we shot it with shotguns.)

Wrapped the head in saran wrap and used some leftover hydrocal. Mounted her up nice like.

No - I don't suffer from a goiter, that's what it looks like when A MAN has to corral his beard. A MAN'S BEARD.

So here's the tally thus far:
Alginate - free
Hydrocal - free
Wood for the base - side of the road
Pipe and flange - $6
25 lb WED - $7 + $15 shipping =$22
Great stuff - $4
2 Abominable Snowman suits - $35 each. Used special deal with a supplier was able to sell the head, hands and feet for $40. Total fur cost = $40

Total cost thus far:
$72

Awright...

Here's the sculpt.

Getting the basic anatomy down. I can't leave this for too long because it looks like Burton POTA. Arrgh. Can't have that contaminate this.

Roughing the face in:

The face and anatomy in place, gotta sculpt ears and tweak some stuff before we go to mold:

Wanted that 70's Bigfoot In Search Of, National Geographic look. Had no desire to build Harry.

Next, ears and suit.

Out .

Hooray! Should be an entertaining thread, and the world truly needs more yeti.

BTW, one "to each his own" aside. While the movie itself stunk to high heaven, I'm
a HUGE fan of Baker's POTA designs, so zero qualms with that second pic. ;)

I'll confess I had to look up Yeti to see what one actually looked like, but it seems you're nearly there! :thumbsup

We are done with the sculpt and he's in rubber. Goes into fiberglass tomorrow.

I gave him Alfred E. Neuman ears because he needed them.

With release on him.

This guy is going to run over budget. The Silicone and NFT order have made that possible.

So here we are cost-wise thus far:

Alginate - free
Hydrocal - free
Wood for the base - side of the road
Pipe and flange - $6
25 lb WED - $7 + $15 shipping =$22
Great stuff - $4
2 Abominable Snowman suits - $35 each. Used special deal with a supplier was able to sell the head, hands and feet for $40. Total fur cost = $40

Gave us $72-

Plus Dragon Skin and Rebound - $300
Fiberglass - $30
Mendle's - $30 for some longer pelt
National Fiber Technologies - $200

About to do a "Weave Run" and expect a $60 bill there.

Well $692 - double what I expected.

I am going to end up with a custom full head, silicone makeup for Yeti and Mr. Bigfoot. We'll be pouring the Bigfoot at the same time, so I don't feel as bad about that.

Yes. I am as big as a door.

Once Smooth-On and the letters 'N,' 'F,' & 'T' are involved, it ain't gonna stay cheap. ;-)
That said, for what yer building, budgetwise it's still pretty stellar. Place 'thumbs up' icon here ....

Am assuming the NFT's for the headpiece?

Partly. There will be a chest panel that snaps into place of longer 7 inch NFT and panels under the arms and center of the back.

I have 2 different types coming

The head will have layered weave hair, an NFT white yak placed in plugs and hand punched human hairline, eyebrows and mustache in it.
I want him to have a little Nepalese/Shaolin Master feel facial hair wise.

For under $1000, I'm pretty stoked.

Rightfully so. :thumbsup

BTW, if you decide you want to go really short hairs on the face, I'd gladly
lend a flocker and some extra white flock down south. Zero worries, but PM me if so.
Glad to see this project come to fruition! Keep on keepin' on.

Damn, thanks for the offer. Since he's Great Ape I think he'd be better with just longer punch. I have crown needles so it's pretty quick.

My pal that's pouring the silicone de-molded him last night and woke up to cracking WED! You lived a fine life my friend. Into the garden you go.

Jacket came out perfectly - no voids at all, no bubbles.
