TFA Tie Fighter Pilot Bucket and Armor FINISHED p2

Contrary to what seems to be popular belief, upon closer inspection the TFA Tie pilots have different shoulders and forearms as compared to the FOTK. So We've finally began work on these parts.

Shoulder armor:
The TFA Tie pilot actually has longer shoulder armor than the FOTK:
Cut up one of my FOTK shoulders to extend another one:

Chest boxes:
Using sketchup, i blew up a pic of a tie pilot to life size (based on a belt box as reference) and modeled each of the boxes...these are now being translated unto cardboard prototypes prior to molding and casting

Helmet:
Rough sculpt so far. Need to adjust the angle of the face in relation to the visor and dome. We've decided to go with a once piece design with regards to the blast visor. This will be non functional in most builds anyway so at least it's one less part you have to secure in place.

Any leads on the hoses used? Or how this is connected to the helmet? Are the "mic tips" found parts?

Also looking for leads / better photos of the shoulder strap greeblies...

I shot these at a Star Wars costume exhibit in NYC. Hope they help out. There are more in my Flickr album. Good luck with your build.

I am pretty sure that he shares shoulder pads with the snowtrooper, and wristguards with the flametrooper. He has the belt and chest piece of the stormtrooper.

Would make sense economically to mix/match armor using a different color plastic.

Thanks for the pics!
Yes, shoulders: tie=snow, forearms: tie = flame

Re: TFA Tie Fighter Pilot Bucket and Armor WIP

More progress on the tie pilot helmet. Still need to fix the angles and shapes of the "cleft chin" bulbs.

Phenomenal work! Can't wait to see the final product.
As for any leads on the hoses, I saw a build on one of the 501st forums for a TFA Tie pilot. The OP wasn't very descriptive, but he said he used "40mm Russian gas mask hoses."
After trying to track some down, I found some on Amazon that were somewhat comparable. They have fabric coverings, but I bet you could rip those off without damaging the rubber.
They're super expensive, however. A lot of 4 is $64, a lot of 2 is $42. Hopefully you can find something comparable without breaking the bank, most hoses I found with the exception of these looked nothing like the pilot's hoses.

Hope this helps!

Does anyone have any decent pics of the shoulder strap greeblies?

Re: TFA Tie Fighter Pilot Bucket and Armor WIP

I tried seeing how crisp the photos were from Sideshow, but you can't really get a great shot of the straps. Almost look like bigger versions of the forearm/helmet clips with a strap in there. But that's just from what I can see roughly
