TFA Reys Star destroyer found part.

Hmm.not convinced. The shape on the original looks angled from the side, this not that way.

But it looks closer than all we had before. Maybe a really rare variant, like so many stuff they used.

Hi, please can you measure the screwdriver set. The cap diameter and length? I know its an old post but I came to it and after some struggle managed to find one screwdriver set, I just want to be sure that I got the correct set :)

I’m not at home right now, here is a picture of the 2 main parts I have saved. I can take some measurements when I get back. You used the part of the thread from the screwdriver set as well and it’s just slightly smaller than the collet

Thanks woodywaverider ! Please when you are back measure the diameter and the length of the transparent lid, and the diameter of the circular part on the collet. I am going to 3d print the collet and I want to scale it appropriately to match the look.

I need some help ... is there any German friend who can provide me the German name of this piece ...

... or a marketplace where to find to buy in Germany?

Translucent part is 61mm wide x 81mm high

The collete is 65 mm wide at the top
With the side bars it is 69mm

TK41434 , I doubt that you can buy this collet in Germany, it is an old Burnerd multi size collet number MC 10 but I suspect MC8, MC9 models can work too. You can buy an old one from ebay, it will be quite pricey tho. Or you can take a resin cast or 3d print as I am going to do.

Edit : the collet is MC10, confirmed by woodywaverider !

Not sure what it would be called in German, it’s a Bernard MC multi size collet.

Bernard is the make, MC the model I used an MC10, anything over an 8 should be fine as it relates to the hole size, I think 7 and under have less fins/bars or were smaller, I can’t quite remember, but I think it was mentioned at the start of the thread.

Google translate has the rest as:

Spannzange in mehreren Größen

There are a bunch on eBay uk, so maybe they would post internationaly?

Recently bought from a Chinese site, it is the correct shape but wrong size - diameter 52mm, length 69mm.

Looking at different 3D models I suspect that the actual prop was 3D scanned and scaled down, what we see on screen is a 3D print. The same collet is used for Rey's staff and later on for her yellow lightsaber. But it appears to be scaled down. I am curious what would you say about it?

Thanks again woodywaverider! I can't order from ace tech I am in central Europe but I hope I will be able to order it from UK.

I imagine the bearing is a cast, and not a 3d print as the size is too exact. Def not the actual part though as these things are weighty and the one shown in the visual dictionary is resting the wrong up for that, the real part would be too bottom heavy

The collets do come in different sizes, there’s a pic of the smaller version on page 7. I’m not sure if they used casts of the smaller version for the staff or saber or a 3d print.

I don’t know if there are more than 2 sizes though.

Anyone who can help me out with a screwdriver set? Can't find them here in the Netherlands. Found several in the UK but they won't ship to my country. Ordered some from AliExpress but when I get them they're the wrong size or don't have the correct number of fins.

Same experience. The third order was the correct size :

With the help of the forum and finally having the real parts in hand I was able to adjust the 3d models and print the prop.

I ordered a washer from Euromec. It's 80x5x60 mm and made out of steel. The company is still closed because of the summer holiday so I'll get in week 38. So that and the collet will give this prop some serious weight.

Took a while to source all the correct parts. I couldn’t find an MC10 at a reasonable price, but I did get an MC9. Like most people, the screwdriver set took a couple of attempts to finally get the correct one. I couldn’t source the Bob’s Bits fork. I tried contacting them multiple times but never got a reply, so I ended up making my own from a regular bit. I designed the piece that holds it in place so that it’s nice and solid. I had to 3D print the outer ring because I don’t have access to any laser cutters. Now to try my best at matching the plastic to the metal. I’ll also do up the internals just for fun, like others have done.

Quick question: I can’t tell if the fins on both halves are aligned or misaligned? My OCD says aligned but from the pics I can’t tell. Any feedback on that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the leg work others have done with this.
