Texture of film

Re: What does your favourite film smell like and have the texture of?

You're out there, man... lol.

Numbers evoke colours for me, though. 1 - black, 2 - blue, 3 - light brown, 4 - green, 5- red, 6 - brown, 7 - black, 8 - yellow, 9 - light brown, 10 - black....

Oh sorry, right, it's a 'sense-surround' thing you're riffing on? Ok, I thought you really had a bizarre type of synesthesia or something...lol

STAR WARS = green stuff

Why?

Because of SWEET GREEN, yo.

And 'cause of grass -- green grass. That franchise is a cash cow; and good ol' Unkie George has been milking it ever since.

Basic Instinct = *****

Probably because Sharon showed us hers.

Bless her.

Transformers = ****

It smells like it, 'cause it is ****.

Not my favorite film - but LOST IN TRANSLATION has both the smell of Scarlett and Tokyo - like noodles made of flowers and boobs.

Demolition Man - i only smell the parts with the young Sandra Bullock onscreen - plus, Los Angeles now San Angeles, is a pretty clean place - people wipe their butt with three sea shells.

Tron Legacy smells like the make-up counter at Macy's.

the first Tron smells like an arcade - quarters, slurpees and pop corn.

Here's an easy one: The Big Lebowski - smells like White Russians and...uh...a certain plant used for medicinal purposes that's semi-legal in only 15 states in the U.S.. :cool

Okay, I gotta admit, the concept of cinematic synethesia is intriguing to me. I don't have any one favorite movie, but here are a couple that come to mind:

Boondock Saints:
Smells like: gun oil, beer, and incense
Feels like: old leather and rosary beads

The Lord of the Rings trilogy:
Smells like: old growth forests, fresh-tilled earth, and mead
Tastes like: aforementioned mead, lembas bread (as I imagine it), rabbit stew (po-tay-toes! Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew!)

Iron Man:
Smells like: motor oil, vodka martinis, and expensive cologne

Re: What does your favourite film smell like and have the texture of?

Oddly, I have emotions and feelings attached to songs that were popular on the radio during times I was feeling those emotions or going through certain things at the time. So I quite possibly could have similar things going on with movies.

There are many songs I just can't stand because of that reason alone, nothing to do with the quality of the music. Maybe I've done that to movies and actors I hate too. LOL Sorry, Nick Cage, maybe it isnt your fault after all.

I would say Indiana Jones reminds me of the smell of musty old books/used book stores, old leather, sweat, and various other things. Not sure what it would feel like over all. Each scene would be different.

You know, come to think of it, I absolutely have always smelled Jovan Musk in my head when Willie pours the perfume on the elephants head in ToD.
