Stretch fabric is your friend here
Cotton doesn't have much stretch in it so you'll get the wrinkles and it won't sit nicely in the crevices. Cheap thin spandex or really anything with a decent four-way stretch will do you fine. What you want is as few seams as possible, it's usually done with sewing but you can glue it in just fine so long as you're careful with the placement of edges. Try not to overlap stuff unless the edge is hidden and you'll find it smooths over the curves really nicely.

So it has been a while since i have updated, kind of got swallowed up in working on these things.

The stretch fabric that fallimar suggested worked great for both solving the ripping problem and skinning everything.



Finished up all of the heads, they look hella creepy but it is what it is.



they work fairly well to unfortunately i think all but mikeys area bit to big i cut his down a bit since the guy who will be in the mikey suit is alot shorter and ultimately i liked that look better for everyone, i may remake them in the future all this size.

I have just finished latexing the suits and am debating how to tackle skinning the heads, even with the stretch fabric i didnt managa to avoid the folding of the fabirc and i really dont want that in the heads so i might just latex them without.



now i just need to figure that out attach the front of the shells and paint them. 10 days to go until the expo.

well now the expo has come and gone, and I present to you the rest of this build.



Ultimately i did decide against skinning the heads first and just used latex it worked out fine.



I ended up buying an airbrush to paint these, for a first time ever using one i think it worked out pretty well.



ultimately the turtles brows and eye lids should be more prominent on donatello especially, but you will just have to trust me that they look less creepy in person than in pictures.
