Teecrooz’s Prop Collection: Updated: 22nd of December, 2023

I’m going to call this as close as I’ll ever get to having all of Luke’s belt items from vintage sources. Swiss ammo pouches, a 1908 Warner & Swasey (yes I know it’s not the right one) a brown M95 ammo pouch, a silver Kobold with a step and no knurling, macrobinoculars and lightsaber.

Red Hawk got me to get my rear in gear and actually work on a prop. The lens has been sitting on a shelf for a while, so it felt good to make a dent in a project. Just missing some paint and weathering, but I’ll probably leave it as is unless I find a washer and bolt to add to the top.

See his thread for instructions, I just followed what he and Seneca have done. If you see this, be sure to like his thread and progress. Really was inspirational to getting me to work on mine. Link below!

Looks great, Chris!!

Thanks Matt! You really did inspire me to get this started. I’ve disassembled the lens a few times, but wasn’t aware of how far it still disassembled. Your pictures showed me how to get to where I needed to go. Up until now I thought I had a lot of cutting or sanding to do because some parts were pretty well stuck.

Thanks!

I honestly wasn’t either and have no idea what possessed me to grab that end piece with a plier and start twisting. Every part of me should have been screaming to stop, but then it gave way! I was shocked as anybody.

I still couldn’t get the “silver” part to disassemble from the knurled end. Had to mask it off and use a dremel rough buffing wheel on it.

Also, going to display this with 3PO because R2 is still in shambles.

Does anyone know how the world’s itchiest wool tie attaches to the Yavin medal on the real prop? Looks like three screw holes, but is there a plate to pinch the fabric to the medal?

Shout out to Serenity for getting me to want to finish this prop also.

It's so f'n weird but I absolutely love the ugliness of the original with all of the bumps and flaws of the surface finish. I don't know why. Maybe it's because when you think of a medal, you think of this nice, beautiful, perfect thing and then you see how the originals were and it's completely opposite of that.

I agree! I have the cast off original, a markpoon, and a Disney version. I’ll likely be selling the markpoon and Disney, although I like the Disney display.

Angle looks off making Disney appear larger, but they are all the same size. I bought the markpoon second hand and the finish didn’t hold up. Would be a good refurbish project for someone. Stay tuned for a junkyard listing!

Chris highlighted Screen Caps of the Medal of Yavin, hope they help.

Looking at the Screen Cap with both Han & Luke you can see the Medal Han is wearing is weathered & tattered and the Medal Luke is wearing looks minty & clean, I guess if you blowup the Death Star you deserve a new Medal and not a recycled one lol!!
