Light weight velvet would be the closest, but it wont be close at all IMO. Once you've seen the closest thing out there you get an idea. Why not contact Kev I think he has a few left over.

I went with super light velvet...it flows in the wind and everything.

Correct which is exactly the way Kev (coofunkcurly) did his, even used the pattern from screen used.

I've seen people use velvet, velveteen, stretch velvet, moleskin. None of them quite capture the deep blackness and sheen of flocked parachute silk but they're definitely passable.
