Tauriel (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug)

Uhm... yeah... no need for apologies... ;)

Your knifes are awesome, I was just confused about the size... :) So, any plans for the bow so far? ;)

Oh, that's a relief. And, nope; no plans for the bow yet! I have a recurve bow but it looks nothing like Tauriel's. I haven't got a clue what I would make the bow out of. I'm open to ideas.

Slight update: One of our cats, Fuzzums, is helping to make the mold:

Thanks, Fuzzy.

Depending on if you molds turn out I may be up for buying a set, especially if they are slightly shorter. The correct length might not look right for me (I'm on the short side). Awesome job so far, I'm very interested in how these turn out.

I'm a leaf on the wind.

Thanks, Fuzzy.

Well, what about an official WETA bow? Or are you trying to hold the costs as low as possible? If so, I think Tauriels bow is hard to match with another bow... It's easy to match Legolas Mirkwood bow, a little bit harede is the Lothlorien bow but I've never seen anything like Tauriels bow... Really excited to see your ideas... :thumbsup

I definitely can't afford an official replica, although I have dreamed of somehow buying on, haha. I'll probably make it from scratch.

And unfortunately, the plaster molds were pretty bubbly and overall very disappointing. I honestly wouldn't feel comfortable selling anything that came out of those, so that plan is scrapped for now. )-:

Since the weather has been just awful where I live (so I can't work outside and we now have a stray cat living in the shed where I would ordinarily do resinwork in winter), I haven't been able to do any casting and probably won't be able to until after the semester is over.

However, I got bored and did start making a related prop out of a styrofoam head, crumpled paper, and lots of masking tape:

I figure it would be fun to carry around at a con dressed as Tauriel, or it will make a nice window decoration for our dorm. Or both.

I'm super excited to paint this (god, I love painting props), but first comes the filling of low parts, as always.
