Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Shirts off Challenge continues! RISE OF THE SPIDER-MEN Sept

I need some advice guys being a dad to such a young one I don't get much time to get into shape has anyone had a similar experience and if so how did you work around
I'll give you my experience, I'm not saying it's right for everyone - just what has worked for me:
I bought myself a bench when my daughter was two months old. Once she was settled down in bed for the evening I'd go out to the garage and do my hour's full body workout, 3 times a week. It's not that hard to find 3 hours a week and it does make quite a difference to your physique, eating right is probably the harder part IMO (if you're sticking to a calorie restriction while hitting your protein targets etc). <edit> I should add that my wife was in the house while I was in the garage<edit>

I started out with the "Ten Tiger's Full Body Workout" (I think it's a Men's Health thing) which is just two simple workouts based around compound lifts, A and B workouts which you alternate between. If you can squeeze in 15-20 minutes of intense cardio everyday then that will also help shift some bodyfat.

I've even done a couple of early morning (*4-5am) cardio sessions before when the little one has woken for a "middle of the night" feed and I've not been able to get back to sleep myself.

Now I joke that I have around 15 years of serious lifting before my daughter starts bringing home boyfriends, for that extra firm handshake, lol.

As for the diet, be strict with yourself. Calculate your TDEE (Total daily energy expenditure) to get your daily calorie needs to maintain your weight. Eat 1g of protein per lb of lean mass (4cals per gram of protein eaten) , 0.5g of fat per lb of lean mass (9cals per g of fat eaten). Use your remaining calories to eat in whichever form you like (carbs/fats/protein). You can recalculate the numbers as you lose weight (if you're planning on losing weight that is).

Details of the Ten tigers full body workout:
Workout A
Squats
bench press
deadlift
military press
chinups/pullups

Workout B
Hack squats
dips
stiff legged deadlift
dumbbell shoulder press
bent over rowing

Sets and reps 3x10, start with a weight you can just fail the last rep on the last set with, when you can do 3x12 up the weight.

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Shirts off Challenge continues! RISE OF THE SPIDER-MEN Sept

I'm in the midst of building my ASM2 suit. I won't be the first person to finish this version of Spidey, but I'm hoping to make mine as special and exacting as I can. In attempting to display fidelity to their established vision of the character, I'll have to try to match Garfield's physical profile to go with the textile work.
This is tricky because Garfield is a few inches taller than me, so he has longer limbs and wider shoulders compared to his head, but in trying to keep a long and lean appearance and being aided by the fact that Garfield's faceshell substantially increases the relative size of his cranium, I think I'll be able to get reasonably close in the end.
The suit should be done before the first of September, so this is a good timeframe to align with the project. Here's the current state.

^Not too far from Garfield's shape in the first film.

Silly posturing somewhat reminiscent of the infamous "locker shot."

First attempt at what I'm calling the "Entertainment Weekly Cover" pose. :lol

Excelsior!

Thanks, Fett! Those pics are AMAZING. Very envious of your experience, I tried and failed to get tickets this year, looks like you had a fantastic time! That MCL34N suit always astounds me. Pure wonderful.

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Shirts off Challenge continues! RISE OF THE SPIDER-MEN Sept

Looking lean Luna, shoulders are looking good and a cool looking bicep vein (I'm envious!).

Great pics Fett, that suit looks fantastic.

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Shirts off Challenge continues! RISE OF THE SPIDER-MEN Sept

Looks like your putting the lean weight on Luna, your gonna rock the ASM2! And great shots from SDCC Amigo, the pics remind me of the first pics I ever saw of you in the McLean suit.....they were awsome and I was so jealous lol :)

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Shirts off Challenge continues! RISE OF THE SPIDER-MEN Sept

Haha, thanks, guys! Bear in mind, this was with me pushing and trying my darndest to appear like I have some mass on my tiny frame. I'm more more Bruce Lee than Reg Park when it comes to the actual amount of meat on my bones.

Cheers. You're one to talk, when it comes to shoulders and vascularity! Absolutely inspiring physique, mate. So, thank you.

Thanks, brother! I hope to do so. :)

^^Haha, definitely! Crimzon, you're looking great!

Thanks, man, trying to become less of a twig, but it's a slow process. Just putting in the time and effort as I can.

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Shirts off Challenge continues! RISE OF THE SPIDER-MEN Sept

Hey Crimzon, I tried the interval fasting for a couple weeks and didn't really experience any differences besides fatigue :p I think I might have been doing something wrong. I usually workout first thing in the morning, and without any food it was ridiculously harder. Since I workout before anything else, should I have been doing the fasting interval at a different time? Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks.

BTW still stuck at around 160lbs, and my strength hasn't changed at all. But on the plus side my cardio has gotten loads better since I have switched to crossfit 3x a week, 2 days of 20 mile bike rides, one day of 10 mile running, and one day of 5 mile hiking. For some reason my fat percentage isn't going down at all though. And the sucky part is that I don't eat more then 2400 calories per day :(

Hey man Intermitten fasting is pretty rough at first but it's not for everybody you could try eating at different times .... I'm not really sure of what your eating you could also try portion size eating for example having a plate of food no bigger than your hand you can google that and research it a little bit to if you wanna got that route ....but there's more than one way to skin a cat you just gotta find whats right for you and your body

Thanks for the tips. I'll be trying something again soon.

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Shirts off Challenge continues! RISE OF THE SPIDER-MEN Sept

Why did it take me so long to find this thread, it's filled with great info!
I didn't read through every page, but are there any other vegan Spidey's out there?? I try to balance my vitamins and supplements.
I've been working out on and off for the past 6 months, I dropped about 15 lbs, now I'm kinda stuck. I've been sticking to a low carb veg diet and do my HIIT every other day. I bike often and am pretty active. I'm not really to focused on bulking or muscle gains at the moment, just cutting my body fat percentage to around 10% (current at about 15). Work and school make it difficult to have a steady work out schedule. Now I feel like a hit a wall, I try to switch it up but I'm running low on ideas. I'm 5'7 and about 140lbs.

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Shirts off Challenge continues! RISE OF THE SPIDER-MEN Sept

Trying to gain as much size in the next month before cutting. With my new workout shirt the six pack in 3 months is inevitable.....S$&T just got REAL!!

I'll just jump in here..
Getting ready for my Ultimate Spiderman Suit which hopefully fits!

Progress pic over a year
photo2_zps91c850b3.jpg

Went from 120ish to 140lbs
Have been going to the gym and blasting a different muscle group each day (Legs, Shoulders/Tri, Chest/Bi, Back, Full Body)
It was always very difficult for me to gain weight so this is a big achievement for me.
I am currently taking Muscle Pharm Combat protein powder after workouts and in the mornings.

Man...Well vacation and whatnot, but yeah. I'm trying the juicing diet just to flush my system...My hunger pangs kicked in hardcore while I was driving home, but I made it to the store in time...

That's some incredible work, MannyP. Well done! Gaining 24% of your body weight in muscle over 12 months is absolutely astonishing.
