Re: A lot of people working on TASM but are you also working on your fitness?

Hey all - thought this would be a good thread to post my queries. I love the tips you all have put together, they're brilliant.

But I've found that most of them are for gaining muscle, so, here's my query...

I'm not exactly what you would call 'fit' - in fact, I'm 5"11, don't know what I weigh, but I will say that I fit a 46" chest for suit jackets, and 44" in waistline. And none of that is in muscle.

I want to ask for any advice on how to lose this weight fast? I have already made changes to my diet, and I've started becoming more active - meaning more walking and Wii Fit - is there anything else I can try to lose more weight? I'm planning on going to the gym at the weekend since I have no time at all during the week. The happiest I will be is if I'm at a 40" chest and 38" waist - but it would be nice to gain a bit of muscle as well, so I'll follow the muscle gaining advice here.

Thanks!

We're the same height but I'm guessing were different builds. I was 215 probably when I started and all I can say is keep doing what your doing man. Cardio made a huge difference for me, if you have to start at walking that's great but always try to push your self more whether it be walking faster, longer or farther. Also in regards to diet one thing that helped me was not only changing what I ate but how much I think that was probably the greatest thing I changed in regards to dieting.

To me personally there isn't an easy or fast way to lose weight, just good old fashion hard work. Keep on working man, it's worth it!

create a deficit in cal consumed per day vs what the body needs

Ive seen and used thermogenics before and they do work. oxypro elite is really good, but everybody is different.

seems like you got a solid baseline though so far

Re: A lot of people working on TASM but are you also working on your fitness?

@Jokerman: my best advice is to find te gym time during the week. Walking is great, but a combination of running and weight lifting will be in your best interest.

You can also work out at home. Start simple with a curcuit f body weight squats and push ups. Do it during commercials while you watch TV.

If you get bored grab a deck of cards and do a "deck". Red suits are push ups, blacks are crunches, do the number on the card (jack 11, queen 12, king 13, ace 14)

Re: A lot of people working on TASM but are you also working on your fitness?

Since you are the "Jokerman" leave the jockers in the deck and do planks

Not sleeping? That's exactly how to gain weight. I don't actually think it works for you, but if it does you are definitely the exception and not the rule. It's best not to provide advice that would hurt someone's health.

I second this statement, muscle growth happens at rest, by not sleeping you deprive your body, drakobus is at (98kg)216 lbs which equates to a 28.5 bmi, which is in the overweight category, dictated by not working out and eating surplus cals. By not working out you do not Engage the muscles which leads to atrophy. EnderX said it right, it's harmful advice that no one should do.

Re: A lot of people working on TASM but are you also working on your fitness?

Agreed, sleep is important. As for loosing weight, running is the best thing, incorporate it with some fully body circuits and you'll see a difference. But the biggest part with loosing weight is the diet. And an hour a day is only 5% of your day... I know time is always a factor, but make time. =]

Re: A lot of people working on TASM but are you also working on your fitness?

I was 240 lbs about 3 months ago and now I am 186. I lost a lot of weight due to my job that requires me to walk all night. I also (sounds lame) do slim fast. I replace 1-2 meals a day with the drink mixing in a light snack like an apple, etc. I want to hit about 170ish. I am 6'2" by the way Lol

Re: A lot of people working on TASM but are you also working on your fitness?

Quick but odd question for you guys. Although I know I do need to build a lot more muscle, from the picture I put on here, do you guys think I would be able to pull off TASM version of spidey as well as the raimi and comic? I always thought I would probably be best at doing the comic versions because Andrew Garfield is built differently than myself, but its good to have other opinions as well!!

Re: A lot of people working on TASM but are you also working on your fitness?

Personally I feel like if you're in good shape and an average build anyone can pull off any of them. The Amazing Spider-Man is by far the hardest to pull off because of Garfield's build but yeah from your pics you should have no problem.

I don't know what everyone has done to be honest I didn't want to read all 11 pages of threads. But I have lost 67lbs doing P90X. I don't really feel I would be ready to wear a Superman/Spider-man suit but I am very comfortable in something as tight as Captain America either TFA or The Avengers version.

Okay guys! A bit of an update! I had my first meeting with my personal trainer today. when we evaluated my fitness level, I'm around 160 pounds, I can bench 135 pounds, I'm 6 foot tall, and my total body fat percentage is 9%. What he wants to do is take "what i have" now and tone it all up (which sounds like a great idea to me. Also, he recommended a protein shake called BSN. So I'm very happy with how this is all going guys!

Are you trying to gain weight/build muscle or just tone up?

Re: A lot of people working on TASM but are you also working on your fitness?

Well, I have to build muscle to tone up, and i don't want to lose any more weight, but I don't want to be "bulky" if that makes sense. So in a way, yes, build muscle, but not bulk up (if that makes any sense).

Re: A lot of people working on TASM but are you also working on your fitness?

I'm not sure of your age, but at 6'0" and 135, I don't think there's much danger in getting really bulky. You can probably go on a weight gaining protein and diet, and lift for gaining size and strength.
