Re: A lot of people working on TASM but are you also working on your fitness?

What's your goals? And what is your current weight ?
If you gained weight but didn't change body fat then it's probably muscle mass. Which in long term would be good once you lost the bf%

I'm 5'9" and weigh 160. I would like to be about 7% body fat. I think I'm some where around 10-11% right now maybe. Not sure if this explains more, but I can currently max bench 200lbs, max dead lift 325lbs, and max squat 225lbs (possibly more because It was kinda easy to do). I would ideally like to be able to rep 185lbs on bench 5-6 times, max dead lift around 350lbs, and rep 225lbs on squats. Also I'm doing the Tahoe tough mudder, so another goal is to be able to finish that. In my past I've been a long distance runner and weighed 145lbs on average...so this is kinda new for me :p

Re: A lot of people working on TASM but are you also working on your fitness?

Personally I'm not gonna cut that much cardio but that's because I'm naturally a bigger guy. So gaining weight for me is easy, losing not so much. Probably once I see a bigger change in my physique and definition I'll probably cut it back some bit maybe like one less day. I usually run 4-5 days a week and its usually about 3 miles, as fast as I can.

Re: A lot of people working on TASM but are you also working on your fitness?

Maybe, I dont really know... I guess that just depends on how difficult the "6 weeks 6 pack" exercises are..... I just tried them, and they are very hard, so I'm guessing It will be more like 7-8 weeks for me to get to the point I want to get to. Big question for you or anyone else though, should i cut back a bit on the cardio? I usually do it 5-6 days a week high intensity for 20-30 minutes. And yes, that's good for losing weight, but from what I hear, I could lose muscle as well If I'm not eating enough. Should I go to more like 3-4 days of cardio a week for 20-25?

yeah probably cut the cardio, introduce weights or you can supplement the cardio with high intensity workouts with weights or body weight, you still burn fat but you engage the muscles. For example if you google the Spartacus workout there is a free layout of the exercises and how each are to be performed, ive supplemented those into my days if I dont feel up to snuff with lifting.

I still think you can get it done in the original time frame, your core can build up very fast as long as you workout right and give muscles the time they need to rebuild.

As enderX stated before and I do very much concur diet is 70% of the battle when trying to get physically fit,

Re: A lot of people working on TASM but are you also working on your fitness?

true, but I still say he should toss the nasty muscle milk for something a little cleaner. there are better shakes out there that offer a better nutrition. Heck even my mass shakes are more balanced.
I'm using 100% whey protein.... That's what I've heard is the best....

Exactly. I totally agree and appreciate the input. My diet probably needs to be changed.... I eat very organic and healthy food, but I only eat 3 meals a day..... I don't think I'm getting NEARLY as much calories in as i should :)

Are you snacking on the side? Also since shakes are usually meal supplements those count as meals too I believe.

yeah that helps alot more, nutrition is your key, whats your cal deficit right now? Im guessing somewhere in like 2000-2200? if you put a small deficit, increase protein, low carb and low fat you will shed the body fat %.

Every once in a while I'll eat a non-fat yogurt.... but apart from that I just now got the shakes and some snacks a few days ago (like mini pretzels, yogurts, fruit, sharp cheese, etc.)
Edit: I just calculated how much calories i should be eating a day.... I should be getting anywhere from 2080 to 2200 calories a day..... I'm getting more like 1,500 to 1,800... that could explain why my muscles aren't growing very fast.....

your right on target there, if you do start lifting make sure to eat the right kinds of foods/ calories in order compliment growth and rebuild.

I'm not sure about the cal deficit to be honest (according to an online calculator maybe 2500?), but judging by what you said, and also some posts before, it's probably the muscle milk that's the culprit. I already have an order of leaner protein on the way and hopefully that will help out. Thanks a bunch ^_^

yeah thats exactly why, up your cal intake more and also look at how much protein your intaking you need 1 gram per lb which is quite high in my opinion but if its no where near your 100% intake jack it up lol. up your carbs if during workouts you feel tired or exhausted. stay away from sat fats and bad fats, supplement omega 3 good fats into diet to smash the fat.

Re: A lot of people working on TASM but are you also working on your fitness?

Yeah thank god for this thread. I don't really have many places to show progress so this thread is awesome!

And I think I'm gonna work that 6 week 6 pack into my routine seems like a great thing especially because my abs/sides need the most improvement.

Re: A lot of people working on TASM but are you also working on your fitness?

Agreed. Really awesome thread.

Awesome! Well here is the routine:
weeks 1-3: hanging knee raise, Hyperextension bench situp, cable crunch, dumbell sidebends. 2-3 sets (except only 2 for the dumbell side-bends), 15-20 reps. Weeks 4-6: same thing accept for increase the intensity. 3 sets (except the dumbbell side-bend; still do only 2 sets), 8-12 reps.

Muscle ill is pretty terribly. Hydro whey is the best "clean" whey. All ON nutrition proteins are good
