Greetings, I would like to share the WIP of my GS-221 CARB (Caseless Ammunition Rifle Base) The design follows that of the concept (lacks ejection ports) While working on my AR2 pulse rifle, someone commisioned me to make the GS-221 CARB. Suffice it to say, the guy that commisssioned this project backed out and the CARB was too far along to abandon. So without further ado, I give you the Avatar Assault Rifle

MATANZA!!!! Still needs a lot of cleanup

Thanks for taking the time to look at my CARB, any questions, comments and critiques are welcomed.

Wow...very impressive!! Love the details you have in it so far. Is that all fabbed from sheet plastic? Looks awesome, looking forward to seeing it finished.

Yes, Im using sintra board for most of the material, followed by lotsa epoxy filler and libral amounts of superglue

Great stuff!

I'm new here and I've been following your WIPs, most notably the Combine rifle. Looking forward to seeing the rest!!

Quick one: can anyone point me towards how to design the 2D foamboard sheets? I mean, do you draw them by hand or do you have some template? As for the OSIPR2, I've found only poor views on the net and no pepakura stuff...

by the way, great forum here!

greetings from Germany

How is the weight going to be using Sintra compared to sheet styrene? I'd assume it would be lighter but you never know.

@Guybrush
Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying my work. I do all of my drafting by hand. As for the AR2, there is no pepakura for it as far as I know. I've done a lot of extensive research into my AR2, and I'll make all of my knowledge availible once my pulse rifle is complete.

@Wes R
I really don't know the weights between sintra and styrene. I would guess the styrene is heavier since the PVC foamboard is, well, foamboard.

A quick little update,
I'm nearly finished with the CARB, but I ahd to put it aside to build commonality parts and paint one of my models for a charity. I'm hoping to resume work on it later this week when I get these projects under control.

That Is awesome Tactonyx!
Cant wait to see it in her finished, painted glory!

Do you have any "blueprints" for this gun, or made it using your eye as a ruler?
If you have any plans could you post it? Or the "base" rifles length, height, etc, etc, dimensions?

I don't know that you have it or not, but I have the decals for the 6.2mm mag.

Thx. Dork

Thanks Dork. Wow, that sounded rude :D

For the CARB, I did everything by eye and ruler, since it was a very basic design. I did make a couple of blueprints on the side, actually I made one blueprint of the scope. So all I have is the scope blueprint.
I'll eventually give out all of my references and dimensions once I finish my CARB, mold it, cast it and paint it.
I've seen those decals floating around online, did you make those? If so, where did you find the references? I've searched high and low looking for anything that showed the writing on the mag.

Some shots of the weapons show about half of the pictograms.

Have you checked the old Avatar weapons thread?

Tactonyx!

Sorry about my English. It sucks I know...But I'll try harder.
Than could you write down the basic dimensions of the rifle base?

About the decals. I was Surfing around searching for blueprints, plans, and dimensions for the Matanza GS-221 PDW.

Here is everything I have that you can use>

I have checked those threads and found some useful info. The last pic in Dork's post is the main reference pic that I have been using for my CARB. The only reference that I need and can't find is the writing on the magazines. If worse comes to worse, I'll probably make up my own crap and try to make it look like Weta's.

More or less. I don't wan't anyone using my dimensions and finish a CARB before I do. When my CARB is all done and painted, I'll give out the dimensions.

I don't know the name of that gun, other than "Munitions Launcher" but if you're asking if I'm building it, it's most of the way done, as seen in the pics above. :)

Thanks Devious, I'm quite excited about the CARB. I got a blank space on my wall to show off all of the varients. Right now I'm, building commonality parts for eight other projects, hopefully I'll get them done this week.
