T800 project

pop quiz... how much resin is needed to cast a whole endoskeleton ?? Thoughts ?

Get hold of a big drum, fill up half way with water (or with enough water that will cover all the parts) then measure the water level, place all of your aluminium bits in it (not my resin parts!) and then measure the water level again. Work out the difference between the two levels, then calculate the volume - that's how much resin you need!

Solid Solutions in Melbourne would probably have what you need. Not sure about N.S.W. suppliers

So today I did a bit of a minni build and started on the gearboxs for the head, these ones will be for the alloy version, they still need a bit of work, they are not exactly the same, but I think they will match the look I'm going for, I'm hoping the cast these in pewter and when I get around to the resin I'm looking to find the oringinal artillery gun model kit if anyone has contacts for one ??

Ok so it's a bit hard to tell, but I think the skull and jaw are ready for molding, it looks very blotchy a bubbly but it feels pretty smooth so I guess we'll see

So still working on getting the resin stuff ready for molding, I have found the the blue glue works quite well for filling the little holes that pepper some of the spots on the endo's parts, it's be a bit of a time saver but only realy works on holes smaller than a head a pin, I'm setting up to make the whole endoskeleton worth of molds, I've got about 70 lt of silicone so no prob's there, still have to get the resin just want to get more of the parts ready first.....

Just thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone has an interest in getting parts or a "kit" when I'm done, keep in mind this is still a way's off and this is not a project for the faint of heart. But let me know ?

This has to be the most detailed undertaking I've ever seen anyone try, much less succeed in. Beyond words here sir.... Alex.

I might be interested pending all the usual. I love a challenge!

I'm not looking to be a "recaster" the work I do I do for the love of it, but it all costs money..... I'd only be looking at doing 1 or 2 of them, if that, this is realy so I can keep going and is not so much about making money to me, the molds are mostly as a future insurance on needing any parts, I'd also like to think I could help people with their "I only need a _______ to finish my Endo" projects. I have no real idea what a "kit" would sell for, but at this early stage it looks like about $450 just to get the amount of resin I'll need to do a full Endo so if I'm being realistic I'd probably have to double that to have any chance of recovering my own costs, plus then there would be shipping and all the extras you'd need to finish the project...:facepalm I know is sounds like I trying to talk people out of the idear but these are just the hard facts.. There are days were I look at myself in the mirror and go. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING.:lol So in short I'm not 100% sure on cost, I REALY need to look at that once I'm closer being ready the cast, I'd guess $1000 ish for a resin set, cables, nuts, bolts, fitting etc would be on you, I'm trying to fix the flaws in each peices as I go, but even that has it limits, so if all that dose'nt scare you off, just let me know.... Feel free to send me a PM or Email if you need more info.

This is the first major mold for the endoskeleton, at first it look like is was going to fail but it now looks like it will be ok, it has taught me some more abut the silcone I'm using as well, so the next one I do will probably be different, but if there is anyone with other tips please feel free to let me know.....

The pile is slowly growing and today I've almost finished one of the shoulder motors and started on the next....
