T1 and T2 Endoskeleton Research Thread

Yeah, the Skynet-2029 guys do some amazing pieces and they are fairly cheap with their offerings.
The guy is definitely here too lol...

Here are a few reference pictures, hope they haven't already been posted, otherwise sorry for the double post and m

He's a member? Cool.

Cool pictures. Definitely a few I hadn't seen before. Be free to post more.

I had my pictures uploaded in zip files and hosted on dropbox recently, but I needed the space so had to delete them again. If people want I can just start posting the pictures here in the thread instead.

So this is something I’ve been sitting on and studying for a while now with a good friend. It’s something I owe a lot of thanks to my good friend “Too Much Garlic” for. Without him this wouldn’t have been possible to obtain.

Earlier in the thread I posted an auction that I lost a few years ago now with an old yellow Endoskull. I was always devastated I missed it. But thanks to my good friend I had another shot at it and was able to scoop it. We’ve both been studying it for a while now and it seems to be legit.Details are 95% there so it seems like a nearly finished cast. I have a feeling that at certain stages of sculpting they would cast the skull and keep adding details and make subsequent casts. Just my thoughts of course.

It’s very old and the guy that owned it originally said he bought it at a model show in LA in the early 80’s.

The best thing at the moment that I can compare it to in pictures is my M1 skull. My other skulls are chromed and hard to see in comparisons but I’m happy to post whatever people would like to see. It’s a fair bit larger than the M1. We are hoping that we have help to identify the temple inserts kit parts on the outer edge as these are not seen on other kits we know of. Also I’ve never come across the separate eye sockets like the original T1 Endo. This was the first thing that struck me when I first saw the old auction.

There’s so many details that line up with other casts, like the mold lines and inside the eye socket on the socket that’s not been cut out. I’ll post more details as we go along but for now here’s some pics and again much gratitude to “ Too Much Garlic/ Carsten”.

You are quite welcome. When I saw the auction I knew I couldn't afford it and since you were the one who mentioned it in this thread initially I let you know. So glad you got it after all this time.

Initially when I looked at the pictures in this thread I thought it might be a M1 recast because of the two dots on the left side, where they usually only are on M1 kits and the missing grooves on the sides of the temple walls... but too many other details didn't seem to line up.

Hope we can identify all those kit parts on the temple inserts that we've never been able to see before, as most other temple inserts in fandom are the M1 style, which SWS copied for their T2:3D and later endoskeletons. It wasn't ICONs that copied M1, if my speculation is correct - they were simply provided the T2:3D style skulls which had the M1 temple inserts. These temples on this skull are similar to the Timeless skull inserts and potentially the SWS production skulls for the movies.

I'll let you show off the rest of the findings, as I don't want to steal your thunder.

On another note. I've started scanning the LFS endoskeleton again in 0.1mm resolution. I previously scanned it in 0.2mm resolution. I really wanted to show a comparison between the detail quality, but my computer is a little slow right now and I need to go make dinner, so I will try to do a comparison later.

First parts to be scanned were the two spine castings I have - the fused 1st and 2nd spine casting and the separate 3rd spine casting. Wish I could find the 4th and 5th from the old LFS kit. And then I scanned the Chest Piston Bowl.

Thanks to this forum thread, almost 10 years later, I dug out all my Terminator parts boxes and resumed my M1 skull conversion to T1. Thank you all for that. I just need some information to finish my T1-style skull, like details on the temple pieces, internal details of the eye sockets, and so on. For instance, I really want to replicate the cover behind the processor port, but there are simply no photos of this part anywhere. There was a person here who said they had photographed this detail, but then disappeared and hasn't been back on this forum.

Could you please take more photos of the jaw, from below and behind, as well as several photos of the temple parts from different angles? This would greatly help me in positioning all the parts correctly. Even better, if you could perform photogrammetry or scan these temple parts, then I could offer something in exchange.

Also, I completed a scan of the Tamiya gearbox halves, the most suitable version. Now, knowing their exact dimensions, I can determine the size of the skull used in the film with an accuracy of a couple of percent, which is much more precise than measurements of many casts copied from master models, which in turn were also copied at some point, possibly multiple times! Additionally, thanks to photogrammetry, I can precisely determine the correct placement of the temple parts in the T1 skull. However, for a comprehensive analysis, I still lack data such as photos of the T1 skull from the left side at various angles and from above. A little spoiler - the width of the skull at the widest part, at this stage of analysis, is approximately 143mm.

Regarding my M1, I bought acrylic teeth, slightly modified their shape to better match Arnold's bite, but the tooth shape still differs. The video shows a fitting of the teeth attached to clay. After that, today I started forming the seating areas for the teeth in the upper jaw, and there is still a lot of work ahead, and I really hope that this forum thread will continue to thrive and be filled with rare materials that will help all of us realize all our projects!
It's interesting why so few people think to warm up their jaw and stretch it slightly forward when assembling the M1 so that the teeth and jaw supports start to align?

The cross section of the neck looks like this.
It is ball-jointed with a hemispherical part.
The center part will be connected with a flexible pipe.View attachment 1785975
In your example, the head will only be able to rotate left to right; you can modify the vertebrae slightly as shown in the picture. Then the head will be able to tilt in all directions. I've drawn an anti-friction pad in red. Also, regarding the flexible pipe - elastomers lose their properties quite quickly in a tense state, so it might be worth considering a system with a cable and weight or a strong spring somewhere beneath the spine.
I hope my tone doesn't come across as too instructive; I simply want to help and share my experience. And it's a bit challenging for me to express myself in a non-native language.

For those who didn't get to download my zip folders when I had them up. I'll slowly go through and post all my pictures. There may be repeats of what others have posted - I just haven't cross-checked my images to see if the sizes are the same or mine are smaller or larger or lower quality or better quality than those already posted, so sorry for that. Starting with endoskeleton parts on display.

First the ones from the EMP Museum. Pictures found online through search engines, going for the largest versions I could find and non-repeat images I didn't have already. The full endoskeleton is listed as a T2 endoskeleton, but it is a T2:3D one - or may even be T3 because it seems it has a spine going up through the chest area.

+ a Stan Winston signing with a Gift Skull.
