T1 and T2 Endoskeleton Research Thread

Those pics didn't exactly post how I would have liked them to but at least they are there. Here is the description from the seller.

Cool. Thanks for sharing those pictures. I searched through worthpoint.com yesterday as they sometimes saves eBay auctions and actually came across it and some of the pictures.

I labeled it as a T2 when saving the pictures yesterday due to the T2 style chip cover that is level with the rest and not sunken in. Though... could still be from the 80's. I'm sure they would have added in some recast traits... but maybe they forgot later and one of those castings became the basis for the T2!? Just speculation on my part. :)

Wonder why they seem to deliberately not show the rear round cover.

Just noticed. The one you posted has the M1 dimples on both sides beneath the temple area, so I'm fairly suspicious now of the casting and the whole story. Those are not on authentic castings, as that is a feature M1 added to theirs - their master they got from Stan Winston does not have it.

EDIT: It's also lacking the angular cutouts on the inside wall of the temple area, which is another M1 feature, as they filled those in for their production piece.

I hope you’re right as it makes me feel better about missing it. When I was bidding he had a number of really old garage kits for sale. You’re right about the details you mentioned too. I have an M1 which I’ll probably just keep as a kit for display as is. That T2 one you posted I’ve seen a few times. It’s really cool.

Just to clarify for others who might not know what I'm talking about I drew up this to show what seems to clearly indicate M1 traits and how they should look on an SWS style skull.

But yeah... it seems to be an M1 recast. If that T2 one pops up again... I'm gunning for it... but it'll probably be out of my price range. :)

This was another similar cast I saved. If I remember correctly someone in Japan bought it and it already had someone fill in the line work around the eyes and forehead. Still has those features of the M1 but is supposedly really old if I remember correctly.

Interesting. I wonder if that rear opening being open is an indication that the skull M1 received had that cover as a separate piece and their original resin master had it as well, and the cover was just fused to the casting for the vinyl molds? Again, just speculation on my part.

I still wonder what the rear cover on the T1 was. It looks like a found part.

Tool marks? I'm sure it's the same tool that made the indent in the T1 chip cover hole. In the center, there is an extra indent. You can see it on this skull.

Funny enough. The Timeless skull is T1 style - was alerted to that recently... but they did something weird with the chip cover indent. Looks like they filled it in a bit and then added their own indent, but it doesn't look correct. Recast trait maybe?

The rear cover is T2 style, but it's rotated, so the master probably had it as a separate piece.

I have a feeling that the Timeless skulls are the same as the T2-3D window or foyeur endoskeletons, as they have the T1 look, but T2 rear cover, but also the wide face, as if they were cast slightly unsupported. Though these have the cast-in teeth.

Btw: if you have the bigger eBay auction pictures for that T2 skull I linked to on worthpoint.com, I'd love it if you would post them here. Heck... any pictures of any cool castings you've spotted over the years would be cool to see. :)

Well, if we work with certain standards, then maybe we can try and streamline the parts various people make, so they don't clash too much when putting parts made from different providers together. I always use the "rotation segment of 100" for cylindrical or round objects to keep things fairly high poly, but not so extreme that it crashes my computer and is too cumbersome to work with if you have to go down and fix something at the polygon level.

I'm no expert at 3D modelling, but I'd love to help. The skull/torso would be above my pay grade, but I'd be happy to take on parts of this if it meant that everyone would have access to the files.

Well, things like accurate modeled bent connections and actually even the ball joint connectors at the end of many of the pistons and other such stuff would be worth looking into replicating as it appears that some of the current versions of those are now made slimmer or different.

Unless the correct ones and where to get them are found.

The arcade shot. I'm still trying to find the best ones I've got of this.I know I have them somewhere.
