T1 and T2 Endoskeleton Research Thread

Yes, the chest part is separate. I still need to make the hoses, and maybe this part will look good. But I don't want to make the hoses using 3D printing, there will be real rubber tubes in a metal braid.

Most of the licensed skulls seem to come from the same lineage. Subsequently worse than the one before in terms of accuracy.

I believe I've been told the XFX has the best shape, but I don't know what whoever made that claim compared it to. The Sideshow is very narrow, the M1 unevenly shrunk. The Thai and Chinese recasts of the M1 are even more unevenly shrunk.

I haven't seen a HCG in real life, but the pictures tell me it's been oversanded and features look soft.

ICONS has a decent shape, but I think it was mentioned it was rather small.

The only licensed skull that is from the movie lineage is the Timeless. It's probably from the T2:3D store front display skull mold, as it has the same wide face warpage as those. I believe the full ICONS endoskeleton used this same skull.

My foam skull comes from a T2 mold lineage - either directly or a casting of one and its shape is completely different from anything licensed I've seen.

Gizmo's skull seems to be from a T1 production mold lineage - it has some details seen in theoriginal sculpt pictures, but lacks some of the final production skull details.

Quartz skull looks like an unfinished Stan Winston Gift Skull - not the production look, but the T2:3D skull look - not the store front display version, but the ones nade for the show - I believe. It loos really awesome, but seems to have the slightly pulled down left side like you see in castings of that style - all the licensed castings.

Would love to compare both of those to my foam skull.
Everything Too Much Garlic said is correct.

I wish we all lived closer. I’d love to spend some time comparing them also.

I don’t think I could handle mailing mine out again. It was extremely stressful the initial time after losing the bids years ago and then getting another chance at it. They held it up in customs for a week or so for no reason also. I was on the phone to them every day. They never gave me an answer why either. Just said that they could. I even paid tax on it twice which I told them. I’ve never had anything seized in all my years collecting. I started to feel I’d never get hold of it. Lol.

Yes, never ship it out. I'll never ship my skull anywhere. Not when they are this kind of rare.

Did you get a reason why you should pay tax on it twice?

Once was eBay’s tax. I have my normal shipping address in Australia and then a secondary one in the US that forwards to me in Australia within my eBay account. Even though I was shipping to the US address first they detected that I was based in Australia and taxed me accordingly. Then when I shipped from my US forwarding address DHL taxed me again for the parcel entering Australia even though I told them I paid already with eBay. They wouldn’t change it and honestly eBay should be the one that shouldn’t have charged me.

I just copped it as I was just so happy to have the skull. I only ever use eBay if I have no other option. I really don’t like how they’ve become in modern times. Especially the global shipping program. Australians are meant to pay 10% taxes and the global shipping programs charges closer to 21%, citing fees. You buy something for $5000 and an extra 11% is a hell of a lot of fees. I have had many arguments with them and just won’t use them unless I have to.

You would think so. I mean a low price item you could say extra fees are reasonable but when you’re up in the thousands that’s a whole lot of extra money for fees. It’s disgusting is what it is. How they’ve got away with it I don’t know. I haven’t looked recently to see if they still do it.

I even talked to an eBay person on the phone once and he was going to follow it up as he couldn’t believe it himself.

I just had a look and it seems to be lower now. For a $70 item it’s about $10 tax which is still above the 10%. I’ll keep an eye on it. It’s only the Global Shipping Program that had this issue. Normal sellers were spot on.

The proper channels should be alerted to them overcharging. Similar to Paypal always overcharging in their favor on their currency conversion. These big companies are scumbags.

Made new guides for eyes. Teeth in progress.

Working on T2 hands. Thumb and index finger. The rings and the top part of the index finger hasn't been corrected from the thumb top shape and I haven't curved some of the ends yet, and haven't cut out the holes in the rod sections where more rings sit... and will have to figure out uneven beveling, but saw a video on youtube from the uploader Artisans of Vaul that showed you could do uneven beveling in Blender, so I will look into that.

Thumb left and index finger right. The rest of the fingers are the same shapes as the index finger, only the rods change length, so they will be easier to do once I finish the index finger.

All the curves and uneven bevels are making these insanely difficult to do and I haven't seen anyone offering hands online that even remotely try to add all those funky details in there.

My perfectionism makes it impossible for me not to... so I will struggle to find a way but get it done.

Would probably be better to make them in CAD.

Thanks man.

Finally did a 3D print session today of some parts. Worked out great. Will prepare more prints tomorrow and show them off when I can.

Was surprised by how thin the lower arm cuff piece is. Looks really fragile, but it's actally quite sturdy to normal handling - and the most fragile part will be strengthened when paired with the lower arm rod that connects with the wrist. But it was still an unexpected thing.

Maybe it would be best to merge and strengthen the lower arm cuff and rod for future prints. Uncertain, as of now.

Will start a new print session in a few minutes with more parts and some from the first batch where I learned I had put supports where they were hard to remove and likely not needed, so I redid their supports and will see if I did better this time.

If things turn out I may post a picture in about 8-10 hours.

Failure. Supports were too strong on some, so the pieces broke while trying to take them apart. Too weak on others, so they warped. Most came out okay, but the wash and cure doesn't clean the prints, so a lot of resin residue remains - the white streaky bits - so I cannot really properly clean them before curing.

The mask works great, but working with the parts drained all my energy. Won't be able to do this at all, so I'm calling it a bust.

It's cool to see the parts in 1:6 scale though.

I will do 1 or 2 more print project and then I'm gonna call that done and over with. It is simply not something I can manage. Sorry.
