Symbiote Spider-Man build

Hello there! I've been somewhat.. uh.. stalking all the Spider-Man costumes and builds here for a few months now:rolleyes.. quite religiously actually. Haha but I don't feel to bad about it because you do too! ANYWAYS, with that aside, I'd like to throw a few ideas and questions out there concerning Spidey. First off, is an eye frame idea. I see people have made frames from foam, fabric, or resin, but has anyone tried to use Mod Podge? Maybe even use foam or clay as a base and then harden it with Mod Podge? I checked out the prices for this stuff and its really cheap. They also have a new product that you stick in a hot glue gun and it comes out as a hard-resin-kinda-deal. A high grade, low budget frame by chance?? Gimmie some feedback!:)

Re: Spider-Man build ideas and questions.

For the actual lenses themselves, I was thinking of using some kind of household cleaner squirt bottle. Something like Windex, since its clear, and cutting the eye shape from the larger/flatter sides. And then proceed with placing white colored mesh behind the lense.

Re: Spider-Man build ideas and questions.

Give me a few months time to get some income if nobody has done this kind of thing. It should look fairly legit and very cheap/easy to make. I'm guessing it will be a little around $20(give or take) to make frames and lenses this way.:p

Re: Spider-Man build ideas and questions.

Sorry it took so long to post this, but I did it! Here are some pics from Halloween :) I'll explain how I made this Spidey suit when I have more time. Hope you like it

I like to see things like this on this board. After my Cap build I'm thinking of a Spiderman build so I'll be checking up on this one. Keep it up. Oh and also, for the lenses, why not use a thinner plexi? Keep in mind I have no idea about this. Just curious. =)

Thank you! And it is funny that you mention that. That was actually one of my trial and errors. I bought a super thin piece of plexi at the craft store because it seemed pliable enough. But when I got home, it cracked when I cut it. When I tried to fit it into the frames I made, it literally shattered. I also tried to make lenses from screen protectors for touch screens.. that didn't work out either because it crinkled instead of forming to the curve. I did however stumble ultra thin/clear plastic covering(for tables, couches, etc.) at Walmart for around $2 by the yard. This worked for me on the first attempt :)

Makes sense. I was just curious. Currently im working on makin a captain america helmet with removable sunglass lenses for riding a motor cycle this spring. Turns out its pretty easy when the medium is foam. What is your body suit made of?

Niccceee. The suit is just a cheap full body suit I bought at Spencer's for 13 bucks. Pretty sure its meant for sexy/fetish stuff, but I saw spider-man haha. Its basically a plain zenti suit. I drew out the spider with chalk and painted over it with Tulip slick paint.

Meh. One mans fetish shop is another mans superhero supermarket I always say. Ok...I don't always say that but it's still true. I'm thinking lycra when I go for the build. Are you talking about the Morph suit things that are full body spandex basically? cause I have one of those laying around that I may scavenge for a friends wolverine suit if so.

That's exactly what it is, except a different brand. I trashed the packaging and don't remember the name. I did see that Walmart and Target were selling the same type of thing around Halloween. To be honest, I gave up on it though. I had the front spider and a hand painted, but that's it. That's why I didn't do any legit Spidey poses. I didn't want to show it wasn't finished. And even though it wasn't finished, I HAD to wear it.. it was HALLOWEEN. Haha. But the reason I wasn't happy is because the material was so thin that you could see my face. I'll post some examples in a sec.

Well I can't find any pictures of me wearing the suit up close. I must have deleted them on accident. Here is one where the dummy I made is wearing it. The features on my face weren't as distinct as the dummy's, but you can see the problem. You can kind of see it in the picture where I'm standing with "The Zipped-Up-Hoodied Spider-Man". I learned how to make the eyes of Spider-Man and learned how difficult Tulip paint can be on my own. So for my next project in the future, I'm definitely going to invest in a custom printed and sewn suit as most people on here have. I would still like to make my own lenses, frames, and other modifications on my own so I can make it as much of "my own work" as I can. On the other hand, if you are going to make a suit(without the hood)for Wolverine, I would highly suggest one of these morph suits since they are cheep as hell.. or free in your case, since you already own one ;)

That looks awesome! I think that these lenses look nice. The problem i see with the wolverine suit is the amount of quality paint I'd need to make the blue parts of the costume. Did you hand paint your costume in this picture?

Yeah, it is all hand painted. I'm not sure if painting the suit or making the eyes was more of a pain in the butt haha. However, the paint is relatively cheap. You just need to be extremely careful. I went back over some of it with black Sharpie because once the paint is on there, well.. its on there.

I'm in somewhat of a bind. I decided to paint my suit with latex to give it a more legit look and so you couldn't see the definition of my lips.. I figured I could poke a bunch of pinholes in the face so I could breathe.. it doesn't work. It is still super sealed off to the outside world of oxygen. Aghhhhgghhhhh!!! I need help. Any suggestions? Please?? I've put soooo much time into this suit.

You could try getting a faceshell. That might pull the mask far enough away from you mouth that you can breath.

Thank you. Sadly, the liquid latex shrunk so much I can't even put the mask over my head. On the positive side of things, I'll know what not to do on my next project. I plan on doing my version of Ultimate Spidey so we'll see how that goes.
