Sweatproof FX makeup

Hello everyone,
I am looking for some new FX makeup. I sweat like crazy....even when just standing still in an air condition room. I used to use Ben Nye liquid magic makeup, but it just doesn't cut it if I'm in full-sweat mode.
I'd like to avoid makeup that involves harsh chemicals to remove, so water-based stuff would be excellent. I'll go with alcohol-based stuff as a last resort.
Also, I'd like to have something that works with both airbrush and sponge.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I think you may be stuck. As far as I know you can't have water based make-up that is water-proof, which seems to be what you want. I think you may be either working in a walk in freezer or you will be going non-water based. Even then they don't do that well with sweat, so you will be constantly touching up. I don't think there is a great solution besides that, but I am far from a make-up expert and most my knowledge is a bit dated so maybe there is some new-fangled stuff out there...:rolleyes

You could try experimenting with adding a little prosaide to the makeup but that does require somewhat harsh removers but with a few trials you might find a mix that will stay put but not be too hard to get off.

Professional Pax makeups are basically just a mix of prosaide and paint and the newer versions of prosaide have a non tacky finish when dry.

First question is where are you having the most problem with sweating? Most people have a couple of problem areas. Usually the forehead and upper lip, sometimes the back of the neck. I use a product called no sweat", it's put out under the a product line called "Pro Face". It's applied to the problem areas prior to the application of make up. Also if your more prone to sweat problems, thicker and more chemically harsh make ups will just make the problem worse. I use Ben Nye water based cake make ups to do 90% of all the character make ups I do, and have had no problem with my actors sweating it off using this process. First make sure you or the model have completely cleansed their face of all oils and dirt, that includes other make ups. make sure the model or your self, is relaxed and comfortable. Then apply the "no sweat", and allow to completely dry. Apply your make up. Lastly apply a fixer like LiquiSet to the make up. LiquiSet can be added to the pots of make up or sprayed on as a mist to fix the job. I avoid applying to the cakes or pots as it tends to cap the make up and has to be scraped off the surface before the cake will accept water again. Of course after the production, the face needs to be cleansed thoroughly and moisturizer applied. You might need a product like Hydra Clranse to remove stuborn make up jobs.

There are some really nice ones out there with a polymer base. I for one have come to really like REEL Creations.(The stuff used for Darth Maul) It's an alcohol based makeup and with a sealer and is very resilient.
If you happen to have a MAC store they recently started carrying airbrush makeup both for everyday and theatrical use as well.
Reel even has a line of waterproof makeup they used in Waterworld. Though it IS an alcohol base it is similar to most makeup when it dries. Feel free to PM me with any questions you may have.

Oh, on another note if you DO get REEL. Try to find someone in that area to buy it and ship it to you. SHipping costs are a bear due to it's flammable nature. Have them pack it very well and it'll be fine. Used to do it all the time. Now I may just make a roadtrip next time I plan to go Maul.

I got to talk with two performers on a cruise ship last year and they were telling me that they use professional grease paints that have had powder applied afterwards............they said it will not run or come off until you are ready to take it off. One of the performers was quite the perspirer too.
