Superman: Legacy

Weird. It says David Corenswet is 6'4. Cavill is 6'1"

New guy is jacked as well, but sure doesn't look as big or tall in the pics.

Just goes to show how much a costume plays in presenting the actor, not to mention camera angles, perspective, etc.

Yeah, because he is jacked. The suit is good, but something is just wrong. It's too thick, although I am glad it's not spandex, but it's just off.

This is what they were going for, which I love, but it does not show the new guys muscles very well, and it really does not look like the guy is 6'4".

Did they skip the padding? They all wear padding no matter how jacked, so what gives?

One of the main costumers said the last actor not to wear padding was Christopher Reeve, and it shows. In the first two he is more jacked than he looks in the suit.

What versions of Superman have had the logo on the cape? Was it just a toy/marketing thing from the 90's?

For the life of me I can't think of any movie, TV, cartoon, etc, with the logo on the cape; but I know deep in my soul that kindergarten aged me had a Superman shirt with a velcro cape that had the logo on the cape.

I do like the cape logo, just trying to wrap my head around if it's really "new" or a callback to anything.
Every live-action (and most animated) Superman/Superboy (with the exception of David Wilson in '75) had the logo on the back of the cape up until Superman Returns. Smallville also had the logo on the cape.

Love to see the shorts are back AND the S on the cape... not a huge fan of how thick the material (rubber?) is... why no muscle suit? The actor is big, but he doesn't look it here. Superman should be ripped. Brandon Routh's Kingdom Come look was absolutely fantastic! Detailed, but not over-the-top Hollywood textured.

I really like the design of this suit, but yeah. It's too thick. Looking at his stomach it almost look like he has a tiny gut, even though we know he doesn't.

I like the suit. If the material isn't skin tight, I've never gotten the idea that he should be jacked. I get they draw him that way "cause strong", but a "normal" guy look is fine with me. As long as it's at least a fit athletic build.

His strength comes from his reaction to our sun, not from being burly. He looks pretty normal, but gets infinitely more from his muscles.

Anyhow, I'm gonna go back to reading my alternate universe comics or something.

Well, in the 1950’s he definitely had an “Everyman Build” with the chiseled, muscular build of a potato:

I like the overall look of the suit, but just can't get past the "S". It looks incomplete, for lack of a better word.

That's my main beef too.

When a logo is that stylized, it amounts to breaking the 4th wall. A first-generation logo would not be done like that because it's too hard for an unfamiliar person to recognize the letter 'S' in there. The movie audience can only see the letter because they are very familiar with the logo already.

I agree completely. It doesn't look like an S, just a large bar across the diamond outer shape. Not at all in keeping with the iconic symbol. I understand trying to update things but this was a terrible design choice, along with a baggy looking costume.
