Hey everyone,

Just finished up the Super Edge Elder after about a month. This was a really fun paint, lots of small details, especially the beads and the netting!
(I think in model hell you are condemed to paint Predator netting for eternity). The next Pred paint i will spend more time giving depth to the skin basecoat with veins and mottling. i also need to work on the skin patterns. Thanks for looking.

John

Wow! That is some class work, sir! I really like it. You should definitely put up more pics of it, from different angles, to we can see the back and sides. I love the armor, especially. Lots of subtle washes going on there. Nice work!

How did you get the netting looking so good? You have virtually no black on the skin. Love the colors and great job on the armor/weathering.

Let me go ahead and correct myself: I guess I posted before you got all the pics up. There really aren't enough pictures of this piece to ever do it justice. I'm anxious to see more of your work, John.

I especially love the handbrushed highlights on the face and the skull on the base. That's something I try to do a lot of myself, and I love seeing it on any piece, and it's clear on yours that you've definitely got it down! Cheers.

I painted the netting with ceramcoat black thinned with a few drops of Badger extender. Working in managable areas of approximately 1 inch by 1 inch sections, i painted the netting on one side then turned the kit around and painted the other side. I worked on the netting for four or five days off and on until i had the look i wanted. The armour was based with Testors Jet Exhaust ( i should have darkened this initial base coat a tab with some flat black) then used some black and burnt umber washes, sponge work, and a bit of airbrushing to weather it. Finally i used Model Master Steal to add the ding and scratch marks to the armour. I also used Joe Dunaways Model Zone site for referance.
