I'm not sure if this has been shown here, but I came across these from the web. I believe they are from the Art of Iron Man 2 book.

Thanks for sharing! I wonder if it could be possible to make the armor fold into a suitcase...
EArthmagnets are pretty useful for quick connecting pieces but I think it might be impractical.
ADAM SAVAGE! I have something you should try to bust!

In the book, they said it is possible to fold as much material needed to cover one's body in such a suitcase. But, in a mechanical point of view, you cannot have a suit of armor with human joints AND having something unfolding like this. The amount of pieces would be insane and the whole would make a pretty feeble armor... " Sorry to have craked your armor, honey, I just sneezed. "

If you want to go deeper in the details, you can analyze this wonderfully done sequence and see all the shortcuts that have been made ( mainly the legs, under the feet, where the helmet is coming from, etc ) to cheat a bit on the audience. :)

Nope, it's possible, I just got back form the future. Bought a set, It cost me 37,000xj Voltron dollars!

Hello. Just thought I'd pop up out of the blue and let you all know that after my Mark VII suit, I'll be working on a Mark V suitcase suit that actually folds up into a suitcase!!! And if you don't think such a feat is possible, search 'Iron Man Mk V' on YouTube and check out Ryan Brook's video. I'll be upgrading his designs to make my own folding suitcase suit.
