Suicide Squad

That is the one thing about Joker and Harley's designs that I would like to see retconned out of future appearances, I don't care if they have to handwave it or say they were fake or that now they are covered with makeup, honestly I wouldn't care if they were gone with no explanation because that fits the nature of the characters. Body tattoos sure, but the face ones I'm just not sold on.

Im totally with you on that. I have actually come to be pretty accepting of the Joker's new look but that dang face ink is just too out there for my taste.

The facial tats make me think of Mexican gangbangers from prison. Just say no.. . So They better edit that crap out.

Yeah I'm pretty open minded about things like that generally, but it just feels like something we could be "stuck" with because of the permanent nature of tattoos. Costume issues can be ignored and fixed later but physical things can come back to bite when they are irreversible.

We're only stuck with them until the inevitable reboot a few years down the road.

What if the Joker has such a reputation, cops don't even dare to come near him anymore. He can do whatever he wants in this town and nobody's gonna stop him. That is, until the Bat shows up.

He gets oodles of attention, but he's smart about it... Isn't he???

I think, with the nature of the character being ever changing, that this incarnation fits well enough. Would I have preferred a BTAS/Arkham or even N52 style Joker? Maybe. But I'm cautiously optimistic about this new one.

Hmm, in a way this is actually the best argument I've heard for the movie. But then again, that also describes the joker in the comics too, and he never felt the need to get tatted up and buy a ridiculous souped up ghetto car.

Don't get me wrong, the joker always had ridiculous vehicles, but they were things like ice cream trucks and helicopters with his face on them. Again, I feel like Ayer is one of those "he is crazy, so we can just do crazy things to the character, and it'll fit!" but the joker is a very, very specific kind of crazy.

Yeah, he's got the freedom to do whatever he wants because people are terrified of him, but the character doesn't want to get tattoos or a grill or a gangsta street racing car, and that's exactly what makes him so different to normal criminals.

I Don't buy it that the cops want nothing to do with him. It's Gotham city and batman would never allow anyone gain that much ground. Unless batman has been hanging out in Europe with catwoman since the end of the DKR. Plus this takes place after BvS..so I can't see it that way. Going have to say he stole the ride when he got out of prison. Maybe the joker was part of the squad and escaped before they put the bombs on him. So batman chased him down and took him back. He Was found to be unfit to have a chance at freedom by being a squad member now. They use Harley as leverage on him..He doesn't care about her, but she loves her puddin.

I'd say it's definitely his own car. Maybe not bought per se, but most certainly customized to his specifications. It's got 'J'-emblems all over and a 'HAHAHA' license plate. While I'm not exactly a fan of this OG Joker look, I'll give every interpretation a shot. All these movies and other media are just another universe to me, just like in the comics you've got Earth-One and stuff like that.

I suddenly got this mental image of the Joker waiting in line at the DMV to get his HAHAHA vanity plates.

Could it be Harley's car? While I wouldn't necessarily see the Joker going through the trouble of doing all that pimping out, I definitely COULD see someone super-obsessed with him spending the time doing it... *shrugs*

He's probably got minions for that ;)

Nah, Harley's got a Harley. It's not like he would be tricking out his own ride, although he does wear a 'Joe's Garage'-overall in the New 52 comics, so who knows :lol He probably just orders his crew to get what he wants. Appearance does seem important to the character, but then again, hasn't it always been that way?

I still hate the look of the character, but the car really doesn't bother me. Doesn't make any less sense than the billions in equipment Batman manages to build in secret. Yes I know he has Wayne enterprises, but really...people notice when experimental military equipment goes missing, and when it turns up again in the hands of a guy in a mask in the same town, the connection is easier to make than the fact that Clark Kent looks like Superman with glasses on. It's just part of the world that cool expensive toys are easy to come by.

David Ayer: " Well we survived the streets. Time to go dark now. Remember, only the tiniest glimpse has been exposed. Our surprises are intact. "

When is the Joker ever NOT looking for attention?

He gets attention for uniqueness and terror. Not of this is unique or scary, it's what someone without any creativity does when they get a flash of money and want to assert their power.

Anyone figured out what Harley's gun is?7iImDGg.jpg
