Suicide Squad

Ech... I'm sorry, but that is just friggin' awful. When I saw Heath Ledger's first look as Joker I wasn't nuts about it, but was understanding of the logic behind the look (post-release very much grew on me and loved that Joker). This though.... I am just not getting any of it and looks exactly as shown above... a twin brother of Marilyn Manson.

This is easily the worst visual film incarnation I have ever seen of The Joker to-date.

Hopefully movement and voice outperform the visual of the character, works for Steve Buscemi :lol But really, I read he's always in character on and off camera, if the actors are a bit intimidated to approach him off set then it has to be good. Then again, that was Jai Courtney saying Leto's performance is out there, that's like a 10 lb weight saying it got outswam by a fish

I'm not holding my breath... The more I see the less I like.

I trust Jared Leto.. I don't trust Jai Courtney and I certainly don't trust David Ayer... We'll just have to wait and see.

Actually, if you've seen the first season of Spartacus, Jai Courtney can act. But he needs the right material. I'm guessing...this ain't it.

I haven't. Spartacus been on my list of things to watch though. Is it worth it?

I have seen Jack Reacher and A Good Day To Die Hard... Those didn't exactly inspire confidence!

:facepalm

Does every single character in this movie have face tattoos? Who the hell approved these designs?

Well if Common is playing the character many speculate after these pictures, then he is one of 2 in the film with justifiable tattoos. His and Diablo's powers are expressed through them.

I'm personally not convinced the "speculation" is correct.... That is if the speculation you speak of is him playing the "Tattooedman." If he is.. great! Tattoo his face.

I understand some characters have face tattoos. That's fine... My (sarcastic) question was why it seems like every character in this film has them...

And this?
**** this.

That isn't El Diablo... That's a knock off Rick Genest.

Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of seemingly every character having face tattoos, but at least these two make sense. I get your point about Rick Genest though, but the movie look isn't too far from the way El Diablo is being drawn in the N52

Even the N52 style is just tribal tattoos. The skull is a clear knock off of Genest and seems to do nothing but add to the "edgy street thug" look they're going for.. I can't make out the text on the chin, but I certainly don't see that in any comic adaptation of the character... And the "13" on the neck?

I'm just bugged that all of these characters have seemingly turned into low level street thugs....

In the end does it really matter? I guess not... but at the same time, when Ayer is gone, the characters in this universe will still have his "street thug" influenced style. The only style he has ever really done, by the way....

I think there's no harm in movies trying different things with characters within reason. Much like comic books, they don't all have to be connected, or part of the same universe/storyline.

My main issue with what I'm seeing from these character designs so far, is that THESE are the people Ben Affleck's Batman will be facing. IMO Batfleck looks incredible...a nearly spot on representation from some of the best Batman comics and media...Batman's rogue gallery of villains was always been what made Batman stories so compelling, but this? This just doesn't match up. Batfleck is on a completely different playing field...and that leaves me woefully disappointed.

The first season of Spartacus: Blood and Sand is hands down the greatest show to ever be on TV! EVER!! Just get through the first half hour (that's all the build up) and it kicks in to high gear and never stops.
