Suicide Squad Prop Replicas

So I've decided to put my 3D printer to good use, I'm going to model and print a few of my favourite props from Suicide Squad as my first replica prop project, I might also mould and cast them.

Starting off with Harley's Custom pistol,
Then Captain Boomerang's Boomerangs,
then Deadshot's wrist guns and eye piece

If I have the attention span I might try the Joker's custom pistol too.

I'm just posting this here in case anyone wants to try and replicate them too, so they don't have to do all the research.
I'm going to try and make the props as accurate as I can but I'm not guaranteeing 100% accuracy.

If you make the Harley Pistol, I'd be REALLY interested in getting the little Jokers on the handle. I'd imagine it wouldn't be too expensive to print, or ship, so if you end up printing the whole pistol, I'd love to just get the little jokers for a reasonable price.. It's literally the only part I can't get right, and I need it to complete my build :(

I just found new images of the props so hopefully I can enhance the the models

I originally was just going to model the eye piece to attach to the grey mask, although now looking at the two of them I think I'll start with the one that goes straight onto the head, I haven't started going into depth with my research for Deadshot yet. If you have any research, especially on parts that already exist, I'd be very grateful if you could link me it or send me in the right direction.

I'm yet to start on the Joker insignia itself, it's difficult because of the low res images, because I can't really zoom in and see the smaller details, but I'll let you know when I'm finished.

Thanks for the encouragement guys, it's much appreciated as it's my first time doing this.

P.s. I've already modelled some of Batman's belt parts as a starting point to my modelling, I'm much better with regular shapes and simple geometry. I'll post screenshots tomorrow of them if you want. :)

Update: I've just finished my first attempt at the main body of the Harley gun, it turned out quite well. The cylinder for the gun is much higher quality and much more screen accurate.
The actual model of the gun I found on Thingiverse, I started to model my own and almost finished it but when I saw the gun on Thingiverse I knew mine wouldn't be as high quality. All the engravings and details however are my own modelling. I also started on the Joker skull for the handle, it's my first time using a sculpting program so it's a little low quality however I think it a good start. As I said here are the photos of the models so far including Batman's belt parts.

I'll be printing my parts as soon as my new ABS plastic comes in, this way I can smooth the parts as part of the finish. MiddleBuckle.pngMiddleBuckle2.pngMiddleBuckle3.pngPouchFull.pngPouchLid.pngPouchMain.pngCloseUp.pngWithHandle.pngFarAway.png

Update: I don't know if anyone's reading this anymore but I'll keep posting for future use. I started modelling Deadshot's wrist mounted guns today, they're quite complex but I'm taking my time and building it in parts. So far I've got 2 of 3 parts, see the photos for reference.
I've also done a mock up of the Boomerang however it's not good enough for me to post, my plastic comes in 2 days so I'll start printing them then. I can't wait to see how they come out.
I've also finished the Harley Gun completely, it's in parts, the main body that I've already posted pictures of, the handle, and the cylinder. The cylinder was my favourite part to model because it was simple but very satisfying. I've also finished the Joker logo/insignia for the handle of the gun which I'm not too proud of however it's only a small part so not much attention will be paid there, and it's my first project using a sculpting program. More updates to come, after the wrist gun is finished I'm going to model Deadshots eyepiece for his grey mask, then his alternative eye piece, then I'll go back to Captain Boomerang. :)

I'd be interested in Batman's rebreather (scuba mask)

I'm going to be honest with you, I'd love to do it, but I know I'm simply not good enough yet to create something like that after looking at it. The main piece with the cylinder and the capsules on the side I would be able to do, but the part that wraps around the cowl I wouldn't be able to do to a good enough standard, sorry.

Double Full Piece.pngThe full completed set of wrist mounted guns, I'm pretty happy with how these turned out although they're going to be difficult to print.
Next up, Deadshots eye pieces!

I second that^^ if you could print off (or put it on shapeways maybe) the Joker pistol grips that would be awesome!!

Would you be able to print and send the joker heads? ^^ I'm really interested in them, they look nice.

Yea I'd definitely put it up on Shapeways, but I'd need the dimensions you guys need for it to be because I scaled my gun to be about 10 - 15% bigger than the original prop. So if you can give me the dimensions I'd be happy to. Thanks for taking an interest :)

Once I get it in hand I'll message you directly, thanks man!

Today I took a break from modelling as I think I've made pretty good progress so far. I did a test print of the Joker Head with my new plastic although I'm still working out the new settings for the plastic. I vapour smoothed it for a while and gave it a few coats of chrome paint to see what it would look like. The paint went on too thick on the final coat but I can imagine what effect a final product would look like. JesterhEad.jpg

Awesome stuff!! What about making a batman mask like the animated series version one of jokers men used while breaking him out of Arkham? Would love one of them. No where to be found online

I found it's just a zentai or morphsuit, you can find it on Amazon here; https://www.amazon.com/Comics-Batma...1472808198&sr=8-1&keywords=batman+second+skin

I'll look into making just the mask pattern, but no guarantees :)

Today's been a little slow, mainly because I was trying to print a part with ABS plastic which I haven't done before. It's a really tedious material, excessive warping, not printing to the print bed and it's a lot hotter than my usual material which is PLA. So I didn't actually get to print a piece of the Harley gun as I wanted to but I should be able to do it on Monday with the PLA. However the good news is I did manage to model a part of Deadshot's eyepiece. I like how it's turning out however I'm not sure how I would get the interior of the ring to light up, like in the movie. I'm also going to get some clear PLA when I can afford it so that I can print the parts of Deadshot which are clear. Which would lead me onto my next project which will be a 3d printed Iron Man Arc reactor with LEDS, I got inspired by this poster I saw, and I'm going to try and make it as similar to the poster as I can. I'll only move on from this project though once I'm completely finished and content with it. :)
