I have some screen used prop weapons from various films, including Pacific.

They are made of a hard rubber.

Can anyone tell me what this rubber is, and where i can buy it?

Presumabley its tinted black already?

Thanks!

You want a self skinning, semi-rigid urethane. It is often referred to as 'gun rubber' here in the film industry.

Bentley Chemicals sell a wide range:

Bentley Chemicals

You'll need to call them for a specific product code.

Edit...they seem to sell Smooth-On products, but other distributors here in the UK will sell Polytek equivalents.

Check this Smooth-On page also:

you mentioned it being "hard" rubber. One thing many do not either know or realize is when some rubber and foam products are submerged in or have extended exposure to water the material will become more dense and even heavier. Ive handled many items from the Pacific and much of the rubber items show this. As long as the items are kept dry and in a non damp location, they should be fine. If your trying to find the material they are made from, dont be too upset if the density of the material isnt a match as per mentioned.
