Stuff you're waiting for people don't know you are

There are millions of people around the world who've read and loved these books... why aren't the movies doing better?!

Good question, really. I've always loved The Chronicles of Narnia, but the movies sort of leave me flat. For me, the magic that Lewis conjured in his writing is somehow missing in the new films. I honestly enjoy the old BBC versions more.

The Black Hole. Especially after seeing TRON: Legacy. Though if the final take is disappointing, you have to worry for BH.

I forgot about the Black Hole. I have hopes for this one. It may do better than tron as it is an all new take on the movie where as Legacy is a sequel.

I would love to see a true adaptation of Tarzan, even a syndicated series (or Triology) that was true to the original books... The Legend of Greystoke was so close for a intro but there is so much more to the books and his adventures beyond that...

The TV dumbed down "Me Tarzan, she Jane!" idiot character they created (complete opposite of the true character) has always annoyed the hell out of me...
+1. I've read all of the Edgar Rice Burroughs Tarzan novels (including Joe R. Lansdale's completed version of the manuscript Burroughs was working on when he died), and none of the films compare. Unfortunately, I think Greystoke is as close as we'll ever get.

BTW, the "Me Tarzan, you Jane" thing started in 1932 with Tarzan the Ape Man starring Johnny Weismuller and Maureen O'Sullivan; Ron Ely's Tarzan in the 1966 television series was as well educated and articulate as Burroughs' Tarzan was in the novels.

I hope they NEVER remake any of his movies.

I hate to tell ya, but that's already happened; here's a few [notable] examples:

Yojimbo -- A Fistful of Dollars

Seven Samurai -- The Magnificent Seven

The Hidden Fortress -- Star Wars

The Hidden Fortress -- Star Wars

I am so sick of people writing those words.

Mind-bogglingly loosely based on the Hidden Fortress at best.

Well heck the both have spaceships, a hairy ape like thing and space, it must be based on 2001 too.

I posted it just for you, Mic.

Despite the title, Star Wars ain't about spaceships, either.

Six Million Dollar Man. God i loved that show. I just wish i could remember it.

Yeah good call, and also the Man From Atlantis, i never missed an episode and yet i cant remember a single one of them too :lol

Also is it gonna happen, is it not gonna happen The Warriors remake that is,

i just love that movie so much and i think if done right a remake would be totaly wicked, just imagine how much scope and variety there would be to introduce new inventive gangs.

CAN YOU DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG IT............... SUCKAS

I've got a little list of properties that I'd secretly love to work on if I ever found myself in a position to. Many have been proposed, but are stuck in development hell. (Where I hope they stay until I'm ready! :lol )

-Logan's Run -- Love the movie, love the books.
-I Dream of Jeannie -- So sue me. Love the pop sixities aesthetic and the space program backdrop. I feel like I've got a great approach for how to handle this one.
-Metropolis -- bit of a resurgance with the Buenos Aires discovery and Blu Ray release, but nothing compared to if it was remade ... by me. :love

-The comic book "Turf." If it becomes a movie, it'll be HUGE. I'm sure it's already happening, which makes me wish I was in a position to work on the adaptation. I've got a passion for this title.

So if any of these become huge ... let it be known henceforth that I declare myself a "fan." :lol

Of course, I'm also shamelessly in love with plenty of other properties that enjoy widespread success, so it's all one.

I actually meant a 1-1 remake.

And yes, Star Wars was inspired by Hidden Fortress. You can't deny it. Lucas even said so himself. Hidden Fortress was the first movie I know of that told the story from the 2 comedic characters point of view.

What?! You don't remember "The Naked Montague," where Mark Harris swims into an area of turbulent water and ends up in the play ROMEO AND JULIET? Or the evil twin episode where Mark Harris swims into an area of turbulent water and ends up in The Old West, facing himself as a gunfighter who cut off his webs in order to draw his gun faster?

Man, I loved that show.

Damn i forgot all about Man from Atlantis. That was another i HAD to watch every week. But again i was young so i don't remember the specifics of the show.

Agree TOTALLY! Untill someone does better Greystoke and Christopher Lambert will be the definitive Tarzan.

Let's see, I'd like a really well done update of the 1980's Buck Rogers. And before you all pounce, it can be done (even without Mel Blanc) If the movie they are working on goes super serious or silly 1930's "ray gun" style, I will be bummed.

The Highlander reboot provided that the fighting is not all wire work and mind bending stuff. To the producers, please look at great duels such as Vader v. Luke (ESB), anything from Connery's Robin and Marion, The Princess Bride. I know I am missing some others.

i'll think of more movies, I'm sure.

I think Greystoke is as close as we'll ever get.

I hope for something more, a lot of the stories are now in the public domain opening up lots of opportunity, although Mr. Burroughs registered the 'Tarzan' trademark and his estate still holds rights to the name...

In the US yes, in the EU after a 10 year long legal battle nope...

It was a TV created (with Edgar's supervision) yell anyway, it might be signature but hardly necessary IMO it could be changed up to a more 'ape' like call and be pretty kosher in my book...
