Studio Snowspeeder...Rogue Leader!

Started out on this last weekend, pretty much spent the weekend taking dims and measures.
It is the Gort kit, but i was pretty bummed about the quality of the hull, hence me taking dims etc.....and rebuilding the whole thing in styrene....my head hurts already LOL.

Itll match Nicks pattern proportions pretty much spot on, but im making a few tweaks to the hulls to make it a bit more specific to Rogue Leader.

Ive placed a few of Nicks resin castings upon the hull, and so far, so good, everything seems to fit well...but im still not sure how much of the kit ill use, there are a few areas that need a bit more accuracy refinement....well see.

This model will be radio controlled.....nooo, it wont fly,are you MAD :lol....but the upper and lower flaps will move via micro servo's......in time that is.....as my head...yeah, its still hurting taking dims from the hulls, but im not throwing all this work, and RC equipment, at poor hulls casts....whats the point?

bests......lee

Cheers Dave...clean up day today, blend all seams, fill all seams, pretty boring lol, but from there, its the lower hull, and scribing....whooo shazam, Jean Claude Van Shazam!

Speeder's looking terrific mate, it's well worth the headache your'e giving yourself and RC servos, man this is goin to rock dude!.
Be watching this build with keen interest, one of the best designs IMO to come out of 'Empire'.

I told you to build this thing from scratch like........4 years ago!!!!:lol:thumbsup
Looking good Lee glad to see you get started on it finally!! I would build the entire model
in styrene Lee.......only because I had to!!!LOL

Aww guys, this one went a a long hiatus lol. I had the upper hull about nailed, then Mike went and cast Nicks pattern in FLAWLESS fashion, so i started to build the resin one.

Ive still got my hull in styrene, which i may now turn into a Rogue 2, but thats a very big maybe right now, few other things i need to tackle that may cancel those plans.

Sure did Simon. They were placed on for mock ups. Hows that build panning out for you? Update us with a thread man, inbetween all the X wings you got on the boil too lol.
May be able to carry on with my resin speeder soon, just need my pilots to mock up the cockpit armature.

I thought I recognized those BAZILLIAN air bubbles! Yeah I'll post some pix soon. I need it finished in 3 weeks for an expo down here. Fingers crossed. I'll have to get some of those pilots too when they become available. I'll just add a mock armature. I just got a y kit as well which I plan on converting into red jammer so I'll start a thread on that next week. Then it's the shuttle and maybe one of the other ten or so kits I have sitting in boxes. Also wanna scratch me a laser turrett one of these days.

Ill blow off the cobwebs here, and carry on my now resin build here. Just thought id show you guys the new pilots, in the cockpit, with a corrected scratched canopy.
Dan and Mike did a fine job with these, looking forward to getting back to this after the PD arm commision is off my bench.

Cheers Simon, they are leaps over the kit pilots, though, to be fair, Nick was new to sculpting when he did those, just wanted something closer to the prop.

Ill be happy to get back this one, maybe ill finish my twin pod first, then move onto this, the paint is a lot harder to nail, so id rather have this as the only thing on my mind come the time.

Need new fodder for the next Prop meet heh.

You need those servo's back mate? Ya know you could always tackle the imperial shuttle now that it's in ESB....:lol

Heh, no mate, you HAVE to put them in something. Hmm shuttle, not a chance, cant stand the bloody thing now, that said, theres not a fat lot from ROTJ that even floats my boat.
Though the recent big ANH build kick on here, well, you all have me watching with AWE.
