Studio Scale TIE Fighter

Glad to hear from both of you. Steve, I am so glad things are ok. I went through something similar (mostly anxiety) about 6 months ago, so I know that scary heart feeling. Like Ryan, there was a period of time where every day I wondered if it would be "the day". Just hang in there man and know we all support you. :)

Good luck to you both. I've been considering acquiring and building up one of the hero ties for the past couple of years but have held off because of the uncertainty in the production and delivery times. Hypothetically, if backorders are caught up by April, would the hero kits be ready for shipment within a week or two of the date they are ordered? In other words, will they still be available for order around April 2006 (which is when I'll be able to order one)? Thanks.

For those of you with concerns over Steve's ability to deliver, please bear with me for a few moments.

I had a chance to visit Steve this past Saturday. Let me tell ALL of you what an amazing job this guy is doing. Trying to juggle his military and health issues, I'd say he is doing an INCREDIBLE job trying to keep up with you guys. He really is concerned on getting kits out, but you must all understand, he is TRULY a "Garage Kit" manufacturer. Everything he cranks out is done right there in his garage, with top notch equipment and supplies. He doesn't skimp on anything to get you the right product.

He let me observe and learn how he makes mold boxes, pours the rubber, and pressure casts parts. He is meticulous and very detailed. He makes sure what he puts together is as close to perfect as possible.

Folks, it may take some time to get what you ordered, and I understand your frustrations (been there), but believe me, Steve is working his tail off, and I think you'll find whatever your wait, you WILL get it, and you WILL love it..

Keep supporting him, be patient and understand, he's doing this stuff for us.

Thanks for listening to my soapbox.

Steve, I hope all is well.
I'm sorry to say that the TIE you shipped to Sweden (a month ago) still hasn't arrived. :cry I've sent you a bunch of PM's but still haven't heard anything back. Please get in tuch with me.

Cheers,

Steve.

Hey gang,

I just wanted to drop a line to everyone and let them know that today was a VERY good casting day. For those of you waiting on standard TIE's, Steve and I got a bunch done. Casting was slightly slowed by the somewhat cold temp in the garage as the resin was nice and pre-chilled thanks to the lovely cold weather here and took a bit longer to kick, and us resin monkeys are TROPICAL critters. That cold means a break between pours to warm up by the Kerosene heater and get the feeling back in the digits, garage + winter in CO + falling snow = COLD resin monkey. For those waiting on other kits, a lot of work was done on that too. A good solid 11.5 hour day of casting, molding and mastering.

Its always amazing to look at the end of the day and see the "make", and I'm looking forward to seeing some "I got mine" posts as soon as these get in the mail and cycle through the busy USPS system. Y'all damn well better post (with PICS.) when ya get yours, as we're busting our hump to get these to you, and thats what keeps me going on cold days like this.

Next weekend Steve and I are taking off due to Christmas, and the following we both hope to knock out some more before the New Year, hopefully both days to make up for the Christmas break. In between, I know Steves planning on working some more tomorrow and Monday, as well as what he can get done in the evenings after work, and I'm hoping to get a few evenings in if I can too. They're coming, as promised, just keep hanging in there.

Steve and I have corresponded via PM regarding this.

Steve, since there may be a problem with your messages getting through to my email server, let's stick to corresponding through PM here. Thanks for the January commitment.

JV,

Funny thing, but I agree with you on commitment times and certainly did not mean for you or anyone to feel singled out or "Flamed".

Please accept my apology for my aggrevating post. I have since edited it to my last thought.

PM or email me sometime,..I'd enjoy talking about experiences with you. I am absolutely positive we have commonality there.

Happy Holidays JV.

Kurt-

I'm not trying to offend or inflame anyone here, I am just dealing with the frustration as we all do. I know Steve's been dealing with some rough things right now and I never questioned his integrity. My postings had nothing to do with not being empathetic to his current challenges either, but miscommunication.

Happy holidays to you too.

JV

Just wanted to let everybody here know that Steve finally delivered my TIE. :) I know there's been some unfortunate shipping misshaps but finally it's here. The quality of the model is just the best, crisp details and NO air bubbles. When I say no bubbles, I truly mean it. One things for sure, on this build I can leave the putty where it truly belongs.......in the drawer.

The wait was forever that's for sure. However, when Steve finally delivered he did it with style. If you missed out on this kit you're gonna regret it for the rest of your life.

Cheers,

Steve.

Hi steve I want to buy one of these kits

I've been interested in getting a kit for some time. I'd love to see new pics and get details on where to get one.

Is there also a Tie Interceptor in this scale? I saw a picture of someones and wondered where it came from.

Anyone attempted to cut out the resin koolshade infill and replace it with the real stuff? I have got the koolshade ready to go but before i start cutting out the resin, i would like to know if anyone had any pitfalls or problems trying this?
Or if anyone has advise on how to proceed.......
thanks.

I would advise against it. The wings get thicker as you move to the central hub. Two flat cast halves would have made that problem go away. You might want to get the hero wings or use what was cast. Otherwise you will need to make wedge shaped bacings for your Coolshade.
