Here is a thought....
Understandably he can not do anything while he is deployed but he is married. If someone wants a refund or if there are TIE that can be shipped what is preventing his wife from doing such things?
 
I can tell you that Steve had some difficulties with the wing mold shortly before he was deployed and didn't have time to remold his wing master. Even if his wife was going to help cast, she wouldn't be able to ship complete kits.

Regarding Steve's wife helping him handle the financial aspects, my wife doesn't involve herself in my business dealings, I wouldn't expect Steve's wife to either. The other assumption is that she has access to all the needed information.

Just curious Flint, does Steve owe you a kit that you've paid for?

Steve was building me a hero version for a trade we set up. I am in no way bothering him or his wife about it. I fully understand and trust him to come through, so I have to wait. No big deal! And I agree, why would you assume his wife knows anything about the accounting side. Or anything for that matter. A very selfish thought. Maybe she offered to help pour seeing he was trying to fill orders so as to not let anyone down before he deployed. Maybe that was there way of spending more time together before he left and tried to fill orders. My wife's no resin Monkey but she will jump in if I needed her to. That doesn't mean she knows everything about what I do and whom I owe kits or refunds to.

Cut the guy some slack. Unless you're a military person you will NEVER understand the lives these men and women live.
And what if he dies? Are you going to lead a lynch mob? This is a time of war. We need to cinch it up and understand. I'm sure if he got an e-mail or message some how that you,
(This is not aimed at a specific person) just could not wait I'm sure at his first chance he would refund it. But his priorities right now are: (1) his tour of duty and keeping alive. (2) Making sure his family hears from him and knows he's okay. (3) Getting home safe and seeing his family and friends again. Then I'm sure he'll get back to casting

This is not aimed at anyone specific. Just a general reminder of the facts at hand. Some times we ALL lose site of things and take our own needs way too serious. In this case, I think some of us got a little too excited and then let down at the fact it would be longer. Then it turned to the fear of being forgotten or ripped off. It's happening on the RPF WAY more then it use to but that doesn't mean everyone is doing it.

Steve isn't ripping anyone off. Then again, when people spend a huge chunk of hard-earned change on something like this and then don't get the product for a very long time, it can be very difficult to relax and remain confident that you did not just flush all that money.

I am going through this right now with not one but TWO very expensive projects (lots of money outstanding, still waiting for delivery), so I for one can relate to those who are getting fidgety. I sent Steve money for TWO kits, and I am still waiting on the final hero wing cores.

Am I worried? NO. Steve is a stand-up guy and I am confidant he will deliver when he gets back. I will get what was promised and I know it will be worth the wait.

But I do know some other people who forked out and have received nothing at all, and I can definitely relate to how they might be feeling about it. I can't afford to lose that kind of money, and few people can.

All I can offer is the assurance from myself and others who know Steve that he is on the level. This is about circumstances beyond anyone's control, not any malfeasance. I have $$ at stake here so I have no reason to give false assurances.

For what it's worth and hope it helps. . .

There was no malace or ill-will in my post. I have talked to Steve on the phone a couple of times, we have emailed each other about the TIE project when it was in its infancy, I helped in identefying the parts for the TIE I also have access to a major part for the Interceptor project. I merely made a suggestion that might help him out in his unique situation. I never suggest his wife start making the kits. I was addressing the fact that there are some people that have expressed wanting a refund and that his wife might be able to help in that process. Whether or not Steves owes me anything is irrelevent.
 
I wasn't addressing your comments at all, Flint. Actually I made the same suggestion to him myself and he was going to try and do something like that, I guess it did not work.

To all concerned: I've been a good friend of Steve's for the last three years. I flew up to visit him before his deployment. He is a standup guy and he will honor all his deals. A note about his wife; She has all she can handle right now with raising their three kids. I have two kids and I can't imagine having to take on that all by myself!!

She is not involved in his projects and dealings with this board. I know for a fact that she doesn't even know his paypal or eBay passwords. I've helped him with paying his eBay fees that were overdue because of his deployment.

Be patient, I've had to wait along with everyone else for parts and kits. If you absolutely have to have a refund, just ask him and he'll get it to you. He doesn't have the luxury of surfing the Internet whenever he wants right now so it may take a week, or a month for him to get back to you. He is living in an environment that no one can imagine. The base he is at is attacked multiples times a day, mortars, rockets... I can't imagine this hobby crosses his mind much lately. Survival and getting back to his loved ones are his top priority right now.

Give the guy a break, he is doing all he can to come back alive, and even then, I'd suspect he'll want to spend all his time with his family before jumping back into pouring resin for us.

Its perfectly understandable to be annoyed but unfortunately Reality has intruded into our Hobby and allowances need to be made. There is literally nothing that can be done, so there's really no point getting upset about it. If Steve were a dead-beat that would be a completely different story - but he's not so...hang tight, wish Steve the best of luck, and worry about it when he's actaully able to respond to your concerns.

Hello all, I have returned. (Ive always wanted to say that.)

I have spent the last hour or so reading through the thread and have went back and forth with different emotions. I guess no one knows how bad I felt about leaving folks hanging with undelivered kits. It bothered me greatly. Especialy when there was absolutley nothing I could do about it.

Those of you that supported me while I was conducting combat operations in Iraq I thank you from the bottom of my heart. reading some of the posts really made me appreciate why I fight and am a member of the armed services. A "brotherhood" so to speak. I Thank each and every one you all that stood with me while I was overseas.

So the burning question is when will TIE production begin. I have the next 35 days off and nothing but time on my hands. I am JET lagged abit but in a few days I'll be right as rain. So starting next week I will get all the wifes crap out of my shop area and begin.

I have three phases that I will be working on at the same time.

Phase One: Begin sending out the kits I have that are missing two or three parts then produce three kits and have a surplus so I never take money again without being able to ship the product. I have committed to do three TIE kits a month so I should have that many on hand at any given time.

Phase two TIE Hero wing construction and molding. I am waiting on AUTOCAD drawings of the TIE wing frame that Im having laser cut from 1/8" acrylic. Then I will add all the kit bashed detail. This will allow me to mold the wing stars flat on the back which will ease construction of the HERO wings using KOOL SHADE. In that Laser cutting order they are also cutting the Studio Scale TIE Inerceptor wing prototype that I have plans on releasing in a few months. When I left I was only missing 3 or 4 little pieces that could be easily scratched. So that is in the works.

Phase three: Finish current Hero build up and kits that require the new molded wings and complete all builds that I have committed to do. Later in this phase the Interceptor will be molded and become available.

I have committed to do three TIE kits a month so not to run into the problems I created when I left. I have invested alot of cash to build my shop to create quality products and I will continue to do so with your support. I will not leave anyone hanging. I make that promise to each and eveyone of you.

With that I would ask for each of you to email If I owe you anything. I have a email listing I will match dates against because I have a work bench filled with several TIE builds Xwing parts here and there a few ATAT castings also and just want to make sure I am not missing anyone.

I know it will be a little overwhelming at first making the transition from daily ground combat operations to Life, family and finally moldel making. I fulfilled my commitment to my country now I am going to fulfill my commitment to you all and future collectors.

Hey Steve-

I'm glad you are back and safe. Please drop me an e-mail on the status of my kit that we were discussing prior to your deployment, I don't know if you ever figured out how to core out the hull for inclusion of a cockpit, but I would really like to get my kit as soon as possible and find out the status on that detail.
