Studio Scale TIE Fighter

Or he could first make a template of each section of the wing in sheet styrene. Then attach the coolshade to the templates and glue them in place on the wing.

Hey guys,

I have just finished the Hero Wing star mold (long time on this one.) This means I pressure cast just the Wing Stars NO resin Screen and NO Bubbles. You need four to do a Hero Koolshade build up.

I would advise not to try to cut the resin screen out of a standard TIE wing. The process is almost impossible to get straight. I will be able to do the HEROs again once i'm caught up with folks already waiting. Shoot me a PM if you want to know more about the Hero wing Stars.

Also contacted my Distributor for Koolshade to do One TIE fighter will require one 60" wide and 20" tall piece of material (exact no room for error.) Cost including shipping is roughly $250 per TIE fighter for Koolshade alone. That is bottom line no mark up whatso ever. IF your thinking of doing a real screen version let me know and I'll see if we can get a cost break if we order a bunch. I have 5 orders to put in and have previously ordered 5 sets. So if your in need of the Koolshade they promised me 4 to 5 day Air mail once the orders have processed. I can now have it drop shipped to your address. They said shipping will be based upon actual address the quote here is for Denver Colorado, will be shipping from the UK.

Thanks for hangin in there, those that have been waiting. Isle, need your address again please.

If there is any interest in the new Standard TIE kit and new Hero kits please PM.

*No new orders will be taken till all backordered customers are shipped, but I will put you on an interested list and email when the kit is ready for shipping.*

Thanks guys.
Steve

Is it possible for someone to explain to me the importancs of coolshade? I know it's part of the solar panels on a Studio TIE, but how nesesary is it? Is it that noticeable without?

My apologies if this is an uber redundant question.

It's the only way to replicate the "flash" effect of the pannels as you move around the model. I think you could easily fake it with Evergreen slat styrene sheet and some strips. But it won't be perfect.

I think the hero wings will look better than the solid ones that came with the standard kit. The way the molds ballooned out in casting really detracts from the carefull detailing done on them. The radial spars aren't straight and have a shallow "S" curve to them in profile. It's the only problem I have with the kit. I think flat casting the wings in two halves, or just the frames with room for my styrene idea would do the trick.

Steve I sent you an e-mail also

Hi Everyone,

Just resurrecting this thread as a very nice event happened this weekend.

I am in the same military unit as Steve (SWPropmaker). This weekend, Steve was awarded the USAF Commendation Medal with Valor for exemplary service in Iraq. I'm not going to go into much detail about his actions, other than they were heroic and he was in a intense gunfight with insurgents, Steve called in additional fire support, and saved the lives of many soldiers.

The reason I'm posting this is to hopefully get those of you that have worried you won't get a TIE or any other model from Steve, understand that he is an Honarable, dedicated man, but soldier first. Steve will and ALWAYS delivers, just be patient. There are so many things going on for those of us in the military. Many things can't be discussed. So when you see/hear a slight delay, think about the person(s) who are doing this, for you.

Anyways, just wanted to let you all know about this incredible accomplishment for Steve, and join me in congratulating him on this most honorable award.

-Sean

Thanks much for the update, Sean, and congrats and a bow to Steve. We sleep safe in our beds at night thanks to you brave gentleman warriors.

Sean,

Thanks for bringing that to the board. There are many of us who did not elect to serve our country through military service, and have little context for the diversity of human experience (getting shot at one day, pouring resin another) that is part of that service. As one "drop in the bucket" that represents the will of the people, regardless of ideals or politics, I am grateful for both Steve's and your committment to service. As well as for that of many other members of the board, and US servicemen and -women everywhere.

Thank-you. And, congratulations, Steve.

Wow.

Puts it all in perspective doesn't it?

THANKS TO ALL WHO SERVE.

Real heroes keeping us free.

Everyone I know is 110% behind you. Now and *always*.
Hope the care packages help.

CessnaDriver (and all of you),
Thank you.... That tribute was and is incredibly emotional for me, and I'm sure those that serve. I won't lie and say that didn't give me both goosebumps, and some tears. So many folks that are not in the military will never understand what/who we are. That tribute is simply amazing, with little words, and great photos, it spoke to me very deeply. There is no way to express to you the emotion something like that does for someone like me. Thank you for that link, it's nice to see the appreciation and support.
If I may for a moment... Years back, during the Gulf War, I remember leaving my base and protesters were yelling and throwing things at us as we left the gates. It was terrible, and I'll never forget that.
TODAY, all Americans, whether I'm in a store, in my car, or anywhere in public in uniform, I constantly get handshakes, thanks and appreciation for serving. It is nice to see the country take a different view towards us.
Anyways, I didn't mean to take this modeling topic off-topic, but appreciate everyone jumping in, understanding my buddy Steve, and supporting us all.

Been corresponding with Steve for half a decade now and goodness.. I never knew Steve would be in such extreme mortal danger before.. I am both glad and worried for him.

But a hero you are, to me, none the less. I only wish you would be alright and may our Lord keeps watching over you. Also wish your duty would be fulfilled soon and come back safely..

Take care...

Thanks guys. It was a honor to recieve that decoration. I sat down today and went through allot of pictures and thought I'd share this one with you all. Its my special paint job Hummer. It is studio scale related. Any one ever makes a movie about the Adventures of Falcon 7 Actual (me) they will need this great reference of my hummer.

She was a tuff Ol girl, and was a nasty B-I-T-C- you get the drift when she had a Maw Duece mounted (50 caliber machine gun) I promise you all that there was not a day went by that I didnt miss studio scale model making and kit part hunting while there. I think thats why I'm working so hard since Ive been back to do a better job. Still have a ways to go but I'm working on it.

Thanks Sean. You are a true patriot.

Steve

Steve and all those who are serving and have served this great nation are all true American heroes. To be acknowledged by your peers for a selfless act that one does because you feel it's your duty and don't expect anything in return says volumes about that personÂ’s character and dedication. For me personally SteveÂ’s character and dedication are impeccable.

I'm proud to call him......... MY FRIEND.
