Studio Scale Narcissus

Ok, here we go. New thread per peoples request.
*************************************************************** I was asked by a board member here if I wanted to tackle this project for him. "Sure, why not," I said. As I am told, the kit I was given is indeed the one in question here. I will not debate the acccuracy or quality of it since it has obviously been done already. Suffice it to say, It did need a lot of cleanup and reworking on a great number of pieces, including cutting off the leading and trailing edges and reforming them, completely fabricating an new underside set of panels, and adding a reinforcing bar with RIVETS to the inside to help pull the warp out. A lot of warp and sag to the main body had to be corrected, and the engines were also totally redone. Much of this is in keeping with the fact that I was told this was a first pull from the molds and was done to "clean them out" from dust and the like. Perhaps they were not supported properly, and the care in doing a professional pull was not adhered to. Be that as it may, here is my finished result after more than a years worth of on and off construction. It is still not perfectly straight, and has many detals that are not accurate. I did the best I could with what I had. As a finishing touch, I did do a set of custom decals that match as close as I could make them to the studio scale original. Got most of the details from close-up pix that were printed in "Sci-Fi Fantasy Modeler magazine." Hope you like.

Nice work.
You did a great job!
I like your intro too... "did what I could with what I had".
That's a good modeler's motto.
:thumbsup

Thanks for the kudos guys. It got delivered to its owner today, and he is very pleased with it. If anyone out there has this model and is interested, I still have the mold for the engines, and the Photoshop file for the decals.

Nice job, looks like you added elements of both Narcissus' onto your build. I have the Aliens Narcissus as well that I finished a couple of years ago. It took a year fix all the warpage and sagging of resin. I also sratch build an interior for it as well.

When I first got startd on this, I tossed around the idea of doing the interior. Decided not too since there would be a lack of visible detail once the ship was done. The main references I had were pics of the original studio model for Aliens being built, and the Halcyon model kit that is only 8 inches long. Since each of the models out there are SUPPOSED to be the same ship, I did combine some of the details. I suppose its more of an idealized version than a studio accurate version.
