Studio scale Gold Leader Y-wing build info and questions for all you wise folk.

As my mad ist of parts increases I find another little greeb which I need.
Any ideas on this one folks ?
holed strip greebly mimssing on 8rad.jpg

HI everyone.
Well the build is going nicely. Many donor kits savagely attacked and raped for little bits of plastic. The main assembly is now taking place. The t strips went on nice and square with the jig, so that's one potential headache over with :)
Yamatto ultra small greebly was cast from the original kit (as it was a shame to ruin a full kit for this micro part).
Next is the final greebly check. Many have been found in the original kits and added or cast where needed. The Titan was a great steer for the small missing "fuel pump" type thing on the top, which is still to be added. The Y itself has been base coated in a custom mix automotive base and is now ready for its final 1200 grit sanding session before progressing onto the final painting.
There are however still a couple of things missing from the mix.
1. is the main red square on the top surface which indicates what was thought to be the Bandai 1/24 shiden detail. I actually have the shiden model here and I cannot find a match anywhere in the kit. If anyone has e a sprue image of this part that would be great as I suppose the one from my kit could have been lost in transit. So I am still searching for this part. Can anyone confirm this as Shiden part please ? as I am thinking this isn't a Shiden part on this kit at all, which poses the question "what is it "

2nd dilemma is a small angular detail stuffed into the right shoulder section right here. I think it could be some kind of tank track but not sure on this.

Lastly is the small detail which may be from the 1/144 727, this is the final greeb before I can hit it with a paint job.
so heres a pic of the Y with my missing red zones (as far as I can tell that's all I need, unless you keen eyes out there can tell me different !!)

Cheers everbody, for your time and knowledge on this model, thanks to you all again.

"The t strips went on nice and square with the jig, so that's one potential headache over with :)"

Can you show/tell what this 'jig' was, and whether you made it or acquired it? I'd love to have such a jig!

Hi SK.
The jig I used on this for the T strips is an integral part of the armature/ jig assembly. You can see it on the first page of this thread. You enquired about getting one before you went away.
It has four pointed stars which bolt through the armature and align the T strips onto the outer surface of the Sat cans. but it will only work with this armature, so no good on its own, or for building a "normal" Neisen Y. This Y wing uses the original Sat cans so I designed it just for this model. If you make one from original parts it will work like the one featured in this thread. Let me know if you fancy one (PM me). I already sent one to the US for another builder.

Part found and sorted by vectorzero.
Its a NICHIMO Nakajima B5N2 Kate.
Here's the sprue.

Any ideas anyone. There may be a prize !!!! ;-)

Hi Hammer3246
Any ideas which version of the He-117 the part is from. I am presuming the kit is the airfix version 1/72 scale.
I have checked a few spru shots of this kit. Any images of the individual part so I can get a better handle on its shape ?

Cheers all

Cheers Hammer.
Ive been checking the parts I have here against the ones seen in some online spru shots.
LANDING GEAR.jpg

Do you think this the little Bueller I'm looking for ?. I am hoping it isn't part B.

Cheers folks and thanks again for all the help so far.

Ahhh, thanks Hammer, ive seen this greeb hanging about for the last few months, now I see it. I'm sure I am suffering from greeby blindness, a bit like snow blindness but without the cold.
I have checked over the 727 and found the small landing gear bit with the ring on the end, now all I need is the protrusion on the top surface which looks a bit like a train carriage coupling, maybe.

Any ideas from you specialists.
I am rapidly approaching the painting of this model now, so I will start another thread for that process in case you would like to see how it happens.
Thanks once again to you all, for the help and information over the last couple of months.

Cheers SK, Ok, so its an unknown. Ill get my greebly stash out and check for anything close which may steer me in a direction. It would appear to have the same kind of form as a military trailer coupling from the back of a truck.

As for the little L shaped bit. I scratched it from a tank track part and a small square bit. o idea where they came from, I just used parts from my micro greebly box. To be honest, the difference is minimal and its so darn small I can live with that until the real deal is sussed out.
Heres a few shots of the wee beasty waiting for the last charge.

Once I start the final paint job I will open another thread for people to follow the methods if they fancy.
Thanks again guys, I'm off to find that last greebly and win myself an internet. !!!!
Don't hold your breath. ;-)

Cheers Carnet. I do try to keep things nicely lined up if possible, and the addition of original parts sharpens the look up considerably.
I have been checking for that last greebly. Closest I have seen so far is from the 8 rad.
8rad missing part replacement close but not correct.jpg

It's not correct as it doesn't have enough height compared to the reference, also needs a small rectangular base, and the pipe exit is a bit wrong, etc etc. It may just do the job after a bit of plastic surgery.
last little bugger.jpg

but it could point the way for others who have more kits here than I have. I've whacked the contrast up on the part centre frame.
Any takers for a quick kit check ?

It would appear to have the same kind of form as a military trailer coupling from the back of a truck.

That's actually pretty helpful -- I'm at the National IPMS Convention right now, but will look for truck kits from that era, and check my stash when I get home. This greeblie has been aggravating me for years. My version of "close" was part #A23 from the Tamiya 1/35 Kampfpanzer Leopard, but it was also just a scoche off.

Good luck at the convention, sound like a laugh. Good luck with the hunt, I think I will scratch build a copy from pasticard to see if I can get away with it. It can always be replaced in future should the real deal come to light.
Cheers SK.
Any decent models worth a thread from the convention ? I'm guessing you are showing there.
