"studio scale desanto viper"

I'm glad that you still think of Lucky.....what I mean is, that some people tend to not want to think of people that have passed that they cared for because it is too painful......but, it's the best way to honor them, by remembering them and thinking about all that you have shared good and the bad ;) . It'll probably always hurt, but that's what lets you know you really did care and that he had an impact in the world,..... because he had an impact on YOU. When it comes down to it not many of us really leave much of a mark in the world, so it's up to those that we knew to basically say......"He was here." and "That crazy SOB made me laugh/ cry/ listen/ think or whatever.."

Well sappy rant mode off, thaks for keeping us up to date on the Viper, looking forward to hearing the good news that the cannons and canopy frames have turned up.

Best,
Chris

P.S. That is one gnarly looking Batman..... Very cool.

We are intensely on this search right now.
I am personall making calls to post offices abroad.
I'll find out one way or another today.

Does your friend know the exact ZIP he wrote on the parcel? That way you can find out the exact post office that zip code belongs too. It's possible the distribution clerks at that P.O. have already intercepted that package discovering that the street addy is unknown and already and have sent it back out already.

However if the ZIP didn't match any existing zip in the U.S. it's possible it's still at the distribution plant that services the P.O. he sent it to. Depending on volume of mail with wrong zips, these have to be manually corrected (one at a time) and sent back to the sender.

Hey Toni,
Spcglider and I are getting closer to finding the package that is just "lost" somewhere. Getting through all the B.S. is what we are doing. The post office is being cooperative though, and that in itself is good.

Well... It is unfortunate, but my experience with U.S.P.S. has not been what it used to be... especially here. They damage, lose or open most everything I have sent using them so I just plain discontinued their services. I also request of anyone sending things to me that they not use them either... at least until I begin to see improvement on the most basic levels of their service to my place. Just not good at all and that is major unfortunate in my book. I think some major re-thinking of back to the basics and quality control in their hiring process would be most welcomed. This isn't a bash on U.S.P.S. , but the truth as to what has happened to me with their recent years of service. Bummer indeed. :(

Thanks for the update Michael. B)

I hope all is well. :)

Yo.
I got ya.

It's a shame, but as I stated before,.. my faith in the U.S.P.S. is quite low.

It may be time to make new molds and cast again. I know it's a pain in the rear, but it may be the only choice left.

Thanks for the continuing updates Michael. :D

Any updates? Please some good news....????
[/b]

Hey JP. How's things?

Last I read on Colonial Fleets is that the Post Office is still lacking in action... I really think it is time to think about making new molds to re-cast the Canopy and Guns over again. This seems to be all that is holding back this project. I am sure that Michael has probably done his instruction pages by now and last I heard the boxes were there to start shipping. Maybe they could ship without the guns and canopy for now... then follow up with them later. I know a few of my friends from international circles have seen the design and are wanting to see this project to be complete as much as all of us,.. including Michael I am sure. LOL. They just want to see me get my stuff from Michael first to know all is well before they do anything...lol. Funny world we live in eh? :confused I am hoping to gift a few of these anyway, which would definitely increase interest abroad I think, but who knows? LOL :confused

Hopes continue. :p

Yeah, I really hope to hear some good news soon too. I agree about maybe making new guns and frame. It does appear that the originals have been lost.

Chris

I do not have any confidence in the post office....especially if the branch they are dealing with is anything like the one near me.

Maybe there is a spare casting around that could be remastered and remolded.

Its a shame that this happened, but maybe its time to move to plan B.

I've been following that same thread. They have definately wasted time and energy trying to track down a hopelessly lost package. Most of the time it is just better to do parts over.

Cobywan,

I don't consider it a waste of time at all.

I'll "waste" as much time as necessary to avoid remolding and recasting 18 sets of guns and 18 canopies.

Not even I, the one who molded and cast them, has a set. I ordered the kit like everybody else. As far as money goes, I'm invested deeper than just about anybody else on this besides Michael.

And until this incident, I have had absolutely NO trouble with the United States Postal Service. I've sent literally hundreds pakages via USPS. No troubles at all. Thus my casual attitude in not insuring Michael's package.

Michael came to me late in the process and asked for my help. This involved breaking my cardinal rule: I don't do molding and casting for anybody but myself. Part of how I make a living is molding and casting. If I'm going to do it as extra-curricular activity, it's going to be for my own purposes. I hate doing it that much. But like the rest of the folks who ordered kits, I was anxious to get mine. THAT is why I broke the rule. To speed up the process.

Fat load of good it did me. Fate has conspired to stall the successful completion of this project.

But we're not talking about Scroedinger's Cat here. Just because it's not in Michael's hands doesn't mean it's hopelessly lost. The USPS has the package. They just need to get it to Michael or back to me. It didn't fall into a black hole. It's not been vaporized by Cylon agents. The box was not equipped with Romulan cloaking technology. And unless it has been "rifled" (an official term from the post office), it WILL be delievered or returned.

We're not talking about the Colonial Shuttle from SMT here. The kits exist. They will come to you.

FIRST OF ALL....You are'nt EVEN A CUSTOMER. You are just a loud mouth. The customers are the ONLY ONES that carry the right to add their opinions. I know them all, and keep them informed, and I respect them all.
You are a nobody, and I mean NOBODY in this matter.
I know everytime that you have visited the thread at the Fleets and I have watched.
And 2nd....The only time wasted in this entire matter is when I have to take time from my busy days to respond to stupid and ignorant people (like you.) to put them back in their place. I did'nt ask for your ridiculous, sarcastic opinion, and I don't recall anyone on any page of this thread where they have.
So take your useless advice, tuck your tail between your legs and carry yourself back to the other threads that someone has been kind enough to allow you to speak in.

You know what Michael? I wasn't being mean or rude. And this is the second time you have flown off the handle at me. I was simply suggesting you just rebuild the canopy and guns and just do the parts over. This kind of stuff happens from time to time.

I know I am nobody but I am a professional and know that you do have to do things you don't want to do from time to time. I am still recovering from a 41 hour shift to get an architectural model out to a client and really can't deal with your attitude right now.

Wow - remind me never to buy from such an arrogant, tempermental, and fragile ego, okay guys?

No... correction. It is the 3rd time I've had to deal with you. And the 3rd time that you have for some unknown reason, enjoyed throwing your opinions into my threads and my business, without giving so much as an ounce of thought for the negative consequences that you know will follow.
Now, after all of the B.S. that has erupted between both of us, I really thought that surely you would use better judgement, and therefore the same mistakes would never be repeated. One should think carefully before jumping in and shooting off their mouth with uninvited opinions that are obviously.... common sense in the first place.
I know you are a professional, and damn well you should be with your line of work. But to pretend that you were... as you put it "simply suggesting", or try this one, offering helpful and friendly advice on how to solve the current problem with the project, is just ludicrous at the very least. You did not approach me with a helpful idea. Your words and sudden approach were poorly choosen, and you should have no reason in the universe to feel as though you have been mistreated by me. "They have definately wasted time and energy trying to track down a hopelessly lost package".[/b][/quote]
Do you know what is going on? Or what I am doing every day to resolve the problem? Do you know for a FACT, that time and energy have been wasted on only one possible solution?
I don't buy it. And I don't buy the <span style="color:#CC0000">" I wasn't being mean or rude" bit.

You made a negative assumption in your post, and out of no where you popped in just to drop that load of nonsense. It was negative. And the people involved in this thread are my friends and customers, which trust me to bring closure to this problem and get them their kits as soon as I do.
In closing, I hope one day you will find another approach to communicating, because this one sucks.

Well... looks like frustrations are high today...lol... but no worries... I have confidence in you guys and know the kits will come sooner or later. ;)

This kind of delay is what is what's most frustrating for everyone because at this point it would seem it is completely out of anyone's hands that has any stake in it,.. be it the master or the collectors..lol :p It's like being chained in the desert in 125 degree heat with an ice cold beer sitting in an air conditiond tent just out of reach,.. only this one isn't a mirage. :D

No stress guys. We're still here and it's all good. :)
